Lore improvement? Option to make peace with Goids

I always imagined that the Klaxians were the aggressive and domineering sub group of Thargoids and that the Oresrians were the diplomatic and even-tempered sub group. Who knows what is happening, all the previous lore was all retconned most likely.

I drew this in 2018

As i recall, its not that the oresians were diplomatic or even tempered. Just they won't automatically rip your head off for no reason at all. They might do it if you looked at them funny though.

Anyway, i'm all for having a peaceful version, where we could dock at their stations and grind... ahem... i mean gather stuff to trade and obtain thargoid tech.

I also think that anyone who has ever killed a thargoid should be banned from all their stations :D

Agony_Aunt yeah I read that if a human mistakes an oresrian for a klaxian they get really offended. And that the differences among them are so subtle that its an easy mistake to make. I would not want to p*ss off a 10 foot tall 1000+ lbs icy caustic azaneous insectoid. It would be interesting to be in a purpose built station that can safely house both thargoids and human beings. I would imagine it would be a very segregated environment where everybody would have to have suits of one type or another. Although thargoids would have an easier time at our barometric pressures that we would theirs. I think diplomatic/trading stations that both humans and thargoids could dock to would need to be created if peace were at all possible.

I have never attacked a Thargoid since and I think I never will. But I rescued lots of people from burning stations. As a player it is very obvious that humans in ED are not on the good side. The Thargoid war offers some interesting game mechanics, so I suppose the war will not end. If a peace between humans and thargoids generates some fun stuff that would compensate for then lacking Evac missions and ax combat... I am in.

The Lore is the Lore!

Sorry couldn't resists. I do agree peaceful coexistence with the Thargoids would have been good, but there's always a spoilsport around to spoil the fun and who will shoot no matter what. I have never shot at a Thargoid, I don't see any reason to do so, all the current issues are driven by human aggression!

Peaceful state does not mean the end of all AX combat.
Commanders are all humans (as far as I know), but it does not end all the PvE combat.

Also we have at least 2 factions of Thargoids - we can make peace with one of them to fight another guys together.
Or we can have a peace with Goids while some "wild" Goids will still be enemies.
Or we can have a peace with Goids and discover the rogue Guardians AI bots with even new tactics and combat mechanics.

There are dozens of possible options possible right away.

BTW the Thargoids are always reminded me of the Klissans from the awesome Space Rangers classics - the game had variable endings depending on the player's actions, including, as an option, to discover the reason of the invasion and eventually make peace with Klissans.

I'm 100% with you on this.
For thousands of years Thargoids have been peaceful farmers (meta alloys) & artists (drawing pics of ships using probes) who have had their crops stolen and lands destroyed by humans.
We as a species urgently need to talk to them to apologise otherwise we deserve everything we get - we need to share this galaxy and Thargoids were here first.
Nope we need to remove them. They need to know that we will expand and resistance to it will result in their destruction. They push, we push back and one of these days we will get an AX wake scanner and nuke their homeworld from orbit. I dont see why we dont bomb their barnacle sites removing their presence and need for said planet.

I say peace with guardian AI. Team up to annhialate all thargoids. But only after we do experiments on them to find out how to kill them most efficiently.

That's the whole point of OP!

A. We don't have any info/contact with Goids - so no way to know.

B. Ganking humans does not work because of multiple issues with the ED's game design:
  • 1. people can fight goids in solo/private mods, so my contribution in Open will never be enough
  • 2. There is no in-game consequences of ganking AX ships
I really like the way you think, I was never once attacked by a Thargoid, I refuse to attack them' only activity I did was help the evacuation of damaged star bases.
We need more informations, a proper intelligence agency to establish a way to communicate without anger issue.

I would be thrilled to see a CG to choose which side to support - Guardians, Thargoids or go all rogue and fight both at the same time (hello, StarCraft!).
Ofc wil the long-lasted consequences,
