Lunar Year Sale - what a joke!

I have played EDO since the Alpha, yes it was pretty borked at launch but it has steadily improved. It's tough love sometimes with this game but despite the bugs I am playing more than ever, I love the on-foot element but I still spend the majority of my time in my ships. I love my recently purchased FC and I can't wait for carrier interiors. The Colonia Bridge CG was a blast and I hope they plan more like it with other interesting module rewards to encourage participation. It's only my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions but I'm feeling much more positive about the game right now and haven't logged into Horizons since the launch.

Funny 99% of my friends list hasn't been on in months.
Odd, isn't it? Your friends are not playing, mine are, it sort of balances out, doesn't it?
People wanted next level and they got half baked crap. Dr. Kay Ross is gone, I have a feeling either bailed or was asked to leave. Something definitely went wrong in Odyssey and people weren't happy. Would love to have been a fly on that wall.
Didn't she mention she was planning to depart a year or so before she went? Of course, I could be wrong, possibly, but unlikely.
I think its okay to not be happy with lies and a crappy product
Good... It is good to think, such an under-rated skill.
I really want Braben to turn off Elite and release the code like he said he would so the excellent and passionate community can fix the game and start producing content that is actually needed.
That would certainly be a good way to kill it dead, certainly...

As an alternative: Certain other eggs.

So on Steam, Elite Dangerous (base game + horizon) with mostly positive review gets -80% discount, but Odyssey (a botched expansion) with mostly negative reviews gets only a tiny -30% discount.
are you kidding me??? The base game plus horizon is worth WAYYYY more than Odyssey. I think it should be the exact opposite.

Make Elite Dangerous -30% off and Odyssey -80% off, and then maybe I'll buy it. Even after update 10, Odyssey ain't worth more than $5. That's what I am willing to pay, and I am being VERY generous.

so... do we have a deal Fdev?

Amazing scenes a recent DLC is reduced but still more expensive than the years-old base game/DLC.

🥚?

I bought another EDO copy on Epic :)

For what it's worth, I don't think developers have any say in what kind of discounts Steam offers for their sales.

I'd be shocked if they didn't.

I don't know if Steam uses the same sales model as Google and Apple, but the way it works for those stores is the developer sets the price and Google/Apple get 30%. So, when you set the price of your app on the App Store at $1.99, Apple gets 67 cents. So, if Apple decided to slash the price, it would have to come out of their cut.

Might make them better informed though.

Actually, if you take a look around, you'll find that all that information has made us far less informed... or, at least, far less accurately informed.

Would the OP go to a car dealer, and complain that the newest model only has 20% off, but the 6year old one has 80% off.

Simplistic, but it's the same thing.
but what if the newer model has so many recalls because of a botched production, and the older model drives like a new car :)

imagine saying a game is not worth more than 5$.
then being upset that it costs more than that, because you actually DO want to get the game.
can someone explain the logic behind all of this?
if the game is worth only 5$ to you, that money is better spend everywhere else.
if you want the game, it is worth more than the price you ask for.
but congratulations, not many people manage to contradict themself with that few words
I get your point, but I really have no desire to get Odyssey right now. It doesn't offer anything I am really excited about. However, for $5 I would grab it because it's a good deal and hopefully in few years Odyssey will be like what they originally promised.

Like other people mentioned , there are many AAA titles that were released couple months ago (Far Cry 6 for example or Cyberpunk) with much much better rating for 50% off or more. Fdev are just being greedy.

Cyberpunk 2077 released 13 months ago

So you're saying they can offer discounts without asking the developers. 😜
