Major Expansions

My wife didn't look too happy when I told her, she keeps hoping I'll 'grow out of it'.

Ever played Surgeon Simulator 2013?

Everyone knows that in order to carry out a successful heart transplant, all you have to do is hack the patient's ribcage to pieces, making sure you throw away all the bits, remove the lungs and allow the patient to use them as pillows and (very important) drop the new heart back in without reconnecting all the veins and arteries and things. :D

If they can actually pull off - in an interesting way - planetary gameplay and inside space station gameplay, then I'm happy forever.

Content update like more quests and major story events sure, but game engine wise I don't need to see anything else.

Agreed; everything else will be a bonus.

This post makes me happier than you can know! Well done! My wife didn't look too happy when I told her, she keeps hoping I'll 'grow out of it'.

Yeah I used to have that problem; but I turned my wife on to Fantasy MMORPGs... Now she PVP's. Unfortunately, no interest in 'space'.

I kinda of wonder how much the expansions will cost and how many their'll be. I pledged up to the 2nd beta level, but I'm extremely disappointed that the physics will not at least be newtonian (one of the things that made Frontier and FFE so fun for me). So I'd like to play the game before I commit another dime to it. If they drop the ability to buy into the expansions before beta 2 odds are I won't be playing the game much past release, regardless of what I think about it, unless the expansions are few and cheap.

Also will people who don't buy the expansions be able to continue to play the game online after the expansion? Will they only be limited to playing with other people who haven't upgraded? Most games that have expansions do it in such a way they both people can still play together, but some of the things like planetary landings seems like a pretty large alteration to the game.

Your ship might just give you a "Sorry Dave, I can't let you do that." message and take avoiding action to stop you entering the atmosphere if you do not have the SPL expansion.

Perhaps this will clear things up for you.

If his word isn't good enough for you I can't help you. Perhaps a lovely trip to the beach? :p

The speed limit is set at 500m/s. But can be exceeded by using the FSD but no combat is allowed in this mode. Do you see this as limiting in some way? Bearing in mind that there is no time acceleration in this game.

Yeah not really actually, my biggest concerns didn't have much to do with collisions and more to do with speed limits, which has been confirmed to be in the game.

Speed limits have been imposed to facilitate the multi-player aspect of the game.

Anyone who likes close to real space simulations should check out Kerbal Space. For us who like newtonian physics it's super fun. I think it's a good learning tool too, I learned more about orbital mechanics playing that game than any other. It's super modable too, so if you don't like something about the game you can make a mod. No multiplayer though.

It'd be super fantastic if you could build ships in Elite Dangerous like you do in Kerbal Space, won't happen, but a man can dream. :D

I have a gainward GTX 680 Phantom.
