The new galaxy and system map is very inconvenient for explorers, I played odyssey for over a month but couldn't get used to it. Please give us the option to enable an old map from horizons
On the horizons map, it is much easier to perceive information about the system / planet, and the odyssey interface looks sloppy, it is much more difficult to understand the informationI see a few of these "old good, new bad" posts but personally found the horizons galaxy map interface awful and the Odyssey interface, while not perfect, an immense improvement.
Apart from the fact that you're not used to it are you actually able to explain why elements in Horizons are better?
I got too aggravated having to turn off system connector lines every time I logged on.
Yeah,That's a bug, we know it's a bug, presumably it will be fixed in the next update bugfix. You can't claim the UI is bad because of a bug, you can claim it's bugged that's for sure, but if something tiny like that annoys you, well, there are lots of other bugs as well!
Surprising going back to 3.8 - ain't it?I have played the Odyssey version almost entirely since it launched, used the new maps a lot & am familiar with them. Click click click click clunky clicky mess but I can do everything I need to be able to do, just not reliably during time critical situations & there aren't many of those out in the black.
I recently reinstalled Horizons (what is now being called 3.8), first time using it in probably a year and apart from missing the click & hold to plot route it was immediately faster & easier to navigate despite my relative unfamiliarity with it now. The left panel was neatly out of the way rather than covering half the screen, it was fast & responsive, as good as I wish the new ones are every time I use them.
An option to use the old style would be very welcome.
Removing the new one & havinginh everyone use the old one again would be frustrating for those that prefer the new one though, so making it optional is the compromise. If there could only be one I'd definitely go for the old one, it's objectively superior & the ways the new one is better (like the click & hold functionality) seem pretty easy to add to the old one.No sane coder is going to maintain 2 sets of UI. If we had our way, you'd barely get any UI at all.![]()
