Make Open Play matter - Power Play and BGS should be influenced only in open

I thought Sandro's proposal was a good one. If it had been adopted losing players like you would've been a worthwhile cost.
And Sandro either in a different department or Fired. So his few year old proposal dose not count anymore.
Right. I'm sure it's dead in the water. My point is if you want to build something great you've got to make decisions that will upset people. Otherwise you end up in the mess we have now.
Only if they announce a new direction for PP to supersede it.
I'm sure you've read @Velixar 's signature. It's just a cheap trick to try and discredit opposing viewpoints. I think it's highly unlikely Sandro's proposal will come to light, but apparently I'm not even allowed to mention it, much less do so favorably.
Thing is there are a lot of PS4 or Xbox Players that don't pay the Subscription. It not like the Apple issue where people can buy Windows and install Bootcamp and still play Elite Dangerous. We don't have that option.
I rather not have to post that part over and over again. I rather focus on why Ideas like this topic are stupid.

power play used to reward you with 30 merits for killing an enemy cmdr. but this was exploited by having people join the other side and let you kill them. so now its only one merit.

@Velixar You are the ignorant one. You are the one subverting my team without me being able to stop you. The reason many PP groups are open only is because your practice is dishonorable. You should stop engaging with power play.
That's right. And that's because of a decision you made to play on console. It's like how my household has to pay for internet access. FDEV isn't responsible for my internet bill any more than they're responsible for your XBOX or PS4 subscription fee.
It's even in the terms of service. Look it up, if you don't believe me.

Obviously you're not worthy of the game, and shouldn't be allowed to play the same meta of sniping systems before the weekly server tick, because roleplay and stuff, while internet generals repeatedly fail at basic logistics against a presumed army of bots.
As far as PP is concerned (its an absolute no to the BGS part)
Open only has some (little but its still there) merit.
I doubt it would have anywhere near the effect some feel it will. I dont see it bringing that many more players to the mix and would undoubtedly push some out of PP.
The Open Only part of Sandro's suggestion, in my opinion, torpedoed the other ideas that were suggested at the time. The backlash seems to have put the kibosh on any changes to PP.
As far as what FDev have in mind for PP, since Sandro is no longer part of the project, its not likely they plan to go that way but only time will tell.
I think PP could be better than it is but the Open Only red herring seems to kill any logical thought towards improving it.

I would be so, so happy to see them leave. I am sick of all the stunts trolls pull in private groups.
I know that FDev will never make anything open only. BUT they should consider it, because many, MANY of the issues this game has can be tracked back to the idiotic decision to try and make an MMO game that let's you completely ignore the 'MMO' part. As I've said before they should have chosen at the start. But its too late now.

What you seem to fail understanding is that that decision is what made the game possible. Without that decision you would not have a game to complain about.
David Braben, from the start, said it was not the typical MMO and that there was no "right" way to play it.
There is no ignoring the MMO part of the game, everyone regardless of mode, region, internet speed, time zone, instance etc affect everyone else who plays the game.
Anything someone else does you have the power and tools to counter regardless of your mode or what mode they are in.
While you may not care about power players leaving power play many do, thats why they are trying to force people to play it in "the one true mode" many of them only want more soft targets. The complaint (maybe belief) that they cant counter someone doing something in another mode is simply not true. While it may be true that they cant counter them by shooting them they still have the ability to counter.
I personaly have no issue with making PP Open Only, I do however feel it could bring the end to PP. I doubt it would have the effect some people are thinking it will.
Most Powerplayers do not play in solo. The only ones who do are mostly villainous 5C trolls who intentionally sabotage the different powers away from our grasp. There is nothing we can do to stop 5C from prepping systems that will go into turmoil. Making it so they couldn't influence PP in solo wouldn't solve the main problem for sure, but if we were able to kill them it would definitely help.
True, almost everything can be countered indirectly, but when two people are fighting on opposite sides in the same war but can't kill each other, the mechanics of the game are not working. In Power Play especially the whole point is that we are supposed to by fighting each other. Everyone in the Power Play community knows this and that's why, as I've already said, most of us don't tolerate PowerPlay ops in solo.
The inclusion of a solo mode in this MMO is not what makes this MMO so special, I'm sorry.
Never tried but I strongly doubt it. Multiplayer access is the whole point of Gold.
i can't think of any other mmo worth playing with a solo mode...
