Make the SRV scanner actually useful.

There is another way for you to get that Germanium too, but will take some research. Biological and geological sites won't require reading the radar and while I have no clue which ones would give you Germanium, any of them will reliably give you plenty of stuff you can trade for Germanium at a material trader.

All you need is a planet with bio or geo and Germanium as a material in the mat list, an average volcanic site will drop you close to 50 Germanium, but your best option is crystal spike surface sites, the spikes always return the highest quality mat on the list so it's quite easy to max out your storage and then just trade for what you want.

It would be a little more understandable if they hadn't been around for the last 8 years before deciding they needed to ask for help. I'm sorry but this is natural selection making it self evident imo
You may be correct. But I don't want to dwell on the OPs qualities too much, I'm more willing to find a solution the their problem. :)
Maybe I'll record a few videos now that I may get the Wave Scanner sounds audible again.

Very kind of you, but I'm afraid OP has "left the building" after been identified as a...never mind though...🤭

My advice to the OP is, you are relying on mechanics that became outdated the moment volcanic sites were created, driving around a planet in an SRV was fine before engineering when all you need were a few for jumponium, but engineering requires a lot and volcanic and bio sites replace just driving around and hoping with certainty!

Just after I pointed out that OP really didn't want any help but "whining" about "the bad scanner-mechanics"? Pure coincidence? I don't think so...
If they're in UK, it's 2:44 am. It's 4:44 here, but I have to go to work early today, so here I am.

They're probably interference because of sharp turns. Drive slowly in a straight line and they'll not appear.
The signals are wider the further away you are from them, and become narrower as you get closer.
These show up even when I come to a standstill and when I am driving on a straight line (or as straight as the terrain will allow). I have tried to orientate on them and drive toward them but they just disappear after a while. they may be meaningless, but they add to the interference. I would have thought that a solid bar would actually mean something.

It's mostly the scattered patterns across the bottom that are confusing, they appear to be something but they are everywhere I turn. If they had a beginning and end, I could find the centre and orientate on a node, but I can see them in a 360 arc so, finding the centre is pure chance.

If others can manage it so can you. Maybe you fall on the left side of the cognitive bell curve but i guarentee less intelligent players are out there effectively utilizing the SRV scanner. Quit complaining, and either learn or quit playing. We really don't care which one you select.

For raw materials, e.g. Germanium, the bottom patterns are what you want. Even if they're all over the place, keep driving straight and a part of the screen well clear. Then turn towards the other part of the screen. It would really help if you could upload a video.

I played a while before Horizons and then played it for a while again when the scan sites became available from Tam Rah. When my friends left the game, I didn't have much reason to play any more, so I have not played for well over 2 years. I just picked up the game again recently and now I've decided to try out the engineers.

Even when I played before, I couldn't read the SRV scanner but I never needed to in order to scan the obelisks for Tam Rah and Engineering for a trader was never an issue then because trading was quite lucrative. That was the only time I ever used the SRV in Horizons.
Now that there are more players and the markets have become saturated, I am looking for more ways to make money trading, because that's what I do best.

Trader: Elite.
Combat: Competent.
Exploration: Mostly Aimless.
CQC: Helpless.
On that video, the scanner at 0:26 is what I get all the time on the scanner. Fragmented at the bottom with vertical lines appearing all over it as I drive along and that same pattern appears in a 360 degree arc. It's not as clear as it was on the scanner later in that video.
The ship has been dismissed so there's no interference from that. That's the reason I can't understand the scanner.
