I use only the radar screen for the white dots when they appear, that tells me there is something nearby. The scanner tells me NOTHING AT ALL because I don't recognise the pattern differences, you can show all the diagrams you want, it's still meaningless chatter to me.
Ok, I really didn't want to do this, I hate having to admit to having it. But it seems that many people don't understand that not everyone sees the world exactly as they do.
Visual apperceptive agnosia. (Look it up.)
In extreme cases, it can mean the inability to recognise even common objects like a cup, some people have problems with words or even numbers. However, there are varying degrees of it and a mild form can prevent people recognising patterns that others can see quite clearly. I have a very mild form that prevents me seeing things like the patterns on the scanner or an oscilliscope and other things like stereograms, to me, it's just random noise. Luckily I don't have a problems with words or numbers and for the most part, it doesn't affect my daily life although, I failed with electronics because I couldn't read an oscilliscope screen.
Most games have a proper radar with a dot or a symbol that indicates that something is there. That, I can see, but this scanner that shows shapes that may or may not fit together, I have no idea what I am looking at.
Imagine a radio station that is drowned out by so much hash that you can just about make out that there are voices, but not enough to hear exactly what is being said.
