Mamenchisaurus revision

While watching the Chaos Theory footage, I noticed that the Mamenchisaurus reuses the model from the first game, which wasn't film accurate. I hope this is not reflective of the final game. Also, I want to express my appreciation to Frontier for putting up with my complaining.

It's the age of cellphone internet... it's very easy to check things every now and then...
Don't take this the wrong way, but I really don't care. You're on a meaningless crusade. This isn't religious salvation. I'm not going to hell for having the wrong understanding of something that hasn't lived for millions of years. So, go ahead, pitch a tent about the size of the dinosaurs nostrils or whatever, but please, understand, I don't care anymore!

Yeah... you might wanna take a break from the internet... it seems to be making you a little... how shall I put it? ...sensitive?

I wouldn’t normally say this, but I really hope they don't change the models because to put it bluntly, the Lost World model is absolutely terrible.

The Mamenchisaurus model in TLW is just a badly altered JP Brachiosaurus, if you look closely at the head when it looks back; it’s exactly the same as the Brachiosaur. There’s a reason why it was only shown far away for 10 seconds, and the only close up of the dinosaur is from the back; it’s so we can never really see just how awful it really looks.

I'm not asking for the onscreen design. I'm asking for the intended design. What Stan Winston and ILM wanted people to think it looked like.

From what I see, none of the dinos are getting a single model change from the first game. Their “skin layers” have changed, and so have their sizes (at least for some). Plus, even if they could at this time, it’d be too late for that due to “content lock” in which no more content can be added before launch.

Plus, I feel having 100% accurate reconstructions from the films for a game that stylizes its own dinos, and that really only a tiny handful of the playerbase really talks vocally about, is bit “fanciful” sounding for a real “give in” change. They do listen to feedback, but it doesn’t mean they will always/guarantee do it, even if a “significant amount” talk about it.

The T. Rex and Pteranodon got model changes.

The trex “new model” I think is just a camera’s perception distortion. Even the RTJP green rex image had that issue. The pteranodon was “remade” from the start for its JW trilogy representation for this JW game, as the ones in the first game represented the JPIII pteras only. So one can say the ptera was just somewhat of an exception, as I don’t think the JPIII pteras, that I know are in this game, have a model change. The Mamenchi did the same, but with a model stylization, like the Cerato.

No. The T. Rex is definitely different.
