Game Discussions Manor Lords, Bring me a beer my good man....

Now I own 3 towns, my market is making good money, and people are coming in a steady stream, got a nice standing militia ready to put anyone who claims my territories into the mud pit.

Sweet. I've only got two regions for the moment. Main town is going well, second region is still in early stages.

Get food and resources up and running, and as soon as possible build a trading post, it's going to be your money machine, then in the tech tree select the import/export tax set to 25 credit and you will be bank rolling in no time. BTW this is not my main city, and I didn't change the name

Yeah, exactly what i'm doing with my second region. Learned a lot of what to do/what not to do with my first one.

Guys, don't overlook this. You can increase the size of your retinue in the retinue customization screen. Same place you can customize their appearance and upgrade their equipment.

Got my third region. People have been complaining the AI takes over all regions quickly, but he was too slow to stop me taking this.

I think for this region i'm going to focus on being artistic with my town layout rather than efficient. Since I discovered that each region is pretty separate in terms of everything, apart from what you trade, its like each new region is a new game.

Before you take a region evaluate the land, some regions are not good for farming where others are gold mines regarding output from the farms.

I heard farming isn't that great anyway. Plots and trade do the job better. Probably needs to be tweaked to make it worth (or nerfed...)

True, however at some point you need food and a lot of it, also need something for your peasants to do, hard labor in the fields is the way ;)
I also saw something that indicates there is some kind of optimum field size (as in "a days work") too big and they can't handle it well.

Yes, its generally better and safer to have multiple smaller fields than one bigger field (you need multiple in general anyway to allow crop rotation). IIRC, one family can plough a 0.6 morgen field in 1 month.

You can upgrade to oxen power.

If you do, you need to make long thin fields rather than square or irregular ones, doe to how the ox plough.

And from testing, you can't have an ox and people ploughing at the same time, so while an ox is beats 2 families ploughing (or more?), for very big fields its better to have more families than an ox... which again, is why its better to have multiple smaller fields.
