If anything Powerplay will ADD reason and purpose to PvP interactions due to Powers fighting over territory. I also strongly doubt things like Powerplay or PvP will make Elite lose players. Quite the opposite.
Still want more mystery sci fi added to the game with the potential to find alien relics and abandoned structures from long gone civilizations both in space and down on planets later. That's what I personally enjoy most in scifi, way to many scifi movies and games are centered around war and conflict instead of mysteries. Elite has room for both though!

Problem is that we have absolutely no idea what to look for. Are we supposed to keep checking our contact list? Is it USS? Should we expect something to show up in report after DSS'ing a planet? Or we should be going into the low orbits and use our Eyeball Mk1? Perhaps it's something we might see in the hyperspace?

Sure, no one can avoid that FD team try to steal part of the GTAV custormer base; if they change the game doing a shooter, also R-Type affecionados will join
Personally I thinkk that the advanced discovery scanner's scanning sound should have a light echo if there is something special in the system, but it should NOT reveal where it is.
Maybe a sound similar to the standard submarine 'ping' sound after the discovery scanner 'horn' ?
All that is needed is an indicator if or if not, not where and such.

Whatever is out there, why should it be easy to find? It may well be evidence of intelligent life that evolved outside current civilisation, perhaps city lights or an artificial satellite. Such a find would change humanity, we would not be alone. So, it's hardly going to be easy to find is it. Personally, I'd be disappointed if it were, it would just be like finding another earth like, which are plentiful.
