Mass effect

What is it with people wanting to bring stuff from other sfi-fi franchises into ED?

I kinda want a Battletech mech as an SRV and I'd like to be able to hatch all these leathery eggs my CMDR found on LV-462...

I dont think they even understand the legal ramifications of just willy nilly putting reapers in the game either.

To be fair, Reapers are about as original as zombies and you could rip them off wholesale, change little more than the name, and EA would have a hell of a hard time proving they didn't rip them off from the same place you did.

I guess small mechs/exoskeleton vehicles are not unreasonable for outdoor spacelegs. They are kind of "in" right now too.

With enough genetic engineering, I suppose Leathery Egg props can hatch a short-lived pet of the buyers choice.
...
Thinking about it, movies could be a lot more realistic if the creatures were on set instead of in the computer. They just have to be trainable.

The discovery scanner honk also agitates thargoid cyclops drones which would suggest that it is deafening to them or the equivalent of screaming to them.
This is something that I'll have to try. That's really new to me if that actually does something.
And easy to try since it's a default piece of equipment on any ship now.

A few months back I rejoined Elite after a hiatus of several years; and got hyperdicted on a jump into a system with AX Zones. There was one hyperdictor, and two observers that just escorted me in normal space, and looked at the ship.
These Thargoid Interceptors didn't react to (nor showed up on) the Class A pulse wave scanner I had at the time (refitted the mining Python to a evacuation ship) -- I didn't actually try pinging them when their Thargon Drone swarm was deployed though.

Oh I meant the cyclops's themselves not the thargon swarm, haha.
The double iris eye in the center of the cyclops interceptors suggests that they are sentient drones instead of vessels. Potentially engineered drones none the less though.

I do remember the hyperdictions with 3 thargoid cyclops interceptors though, unfortunately at the time was bugged so they didnt respond to any input at all.

But if you want to get on their good side you can always go near merope and find non human signal sources and drop them a few meta alloys.

This thread should be locked. OP signed up on the 15th to post this nonsense and hasn't returned since posting it. 1 and done.

Well, for certain, FDev can't implement any of such property. Even with a license that becomes tricky. I remember the case of the anime Macross and Harmony Gold.

But there are some tropes of many other series that could be repeated as long as they are not too annoying, I mean, the Faster Than Light is almost a universal one that is needed for this kind of stories. Of course, there are other more annoying tropes that I've get tired of seeing. I cringe with every old-race-of-almost-supernatural-beings-who-made-everything "Celestial", "Prothean", etc., that mysteriously disappeared but they left ruins and they are now magical and stuff.

Since it's so off-topic, can I mention the Battletech vibes I sometimes get from Elite? There's the overheating when I fire my Gauss Cannons too rapidly, trying desperately to get that Thargoid heart. They both started in 1984. The lore has some similarities. They are both in the same millennium. The bubble sounds a lot like the Inner Sphere, though latter is usually treated like a flat map. Inner Sphere is bigger, though. Pleiades cluster is inside Davion space, though the Taurian Concordat wants it back. Must not also forget the political intrigue.

Completely agree, the first time I read "The bubble" I thought about the Inner Sphere. Then the stuff about overheating, then a gauss cannon (ok, that appears on other franchises, but still), advanced "lost technology" from a previoius civilization that makes everyone more powerful and then, the Clans Thargoids attack.

Now I want an Atlas to stop at planet ports.
