Material Farming in 3.3

I will try it for the others that said.
It makes a decent break from logging in and out as well.

That's for sure. And one other minor suggestion -- if you do your mound/spire zapping on a planet with > .5 or .8G it makes a HUGE difference versus trying to drive around and collect the mats you've broken loose on a planet with .01G. LOL (I was doing that earlier this morning, out farming Selenium, and if your lasers shot the mats up into the air, it was faster using the SRV's thruster to fly up to scoop them than it was to wait for them to float eventually back to the ground!)

It makes a decent break from logging in and out as well. I do enough of that at the Jameson cobra. ;) I look forward to hearing what you think. Please give yourself a chance to find a really good field or two, they do vary. Good luck. o7

I still use both methods; depends on my mood and how much time I have to burn.

...Piceous cobble will always drop something from the g1 pool for that body, crystalline fragments always g2 pool, crystalline clusters always g3 pool and needle crystals always g4 pool.

One thing about the above statement: There are still bugs in the system (shocker, I know).

I have only ever gotten Selenium, which is a G4 raw, to drop out of clusters, which should only produce G3 raw materials. Selenium is correctly identified as a G4 in your ship's inventory screen, but the server drop tables seem to have it listed as a G3 element.

This contributes toward making Selenium one of the hardest raws to farm efficiently, IMHO. Also, though this is more of a newb mistake, there are some elements that are STILL wrongly identified as G5 raws in your ship's inventory screen (Antimony and Polonium). So if you're comparing planet compositions with your inventory screen filtered to only display G4 raw materials, you might land on a planet that you think has only Selenium in its G4 table, only to find Polonium or Antimony needle crystals spawning, instead.

So if anyone knows of a planet that has Volcanism sites AND Selenium AND no other G3 materials in its composition, that would be worth some rep. Then you'd be looking for crystalline clusters rather than needle crystals to fill up on that G4 raw.

Highly dissatisfied with the entire material collection mini game.
And guess what it's even worse after the patch.

What is fdevs compulsion with archaic and mind numbing gameplay.

Less rng, less time sink, less boredom, less frustration.

How many posts do you need to see!

bump

mat gathering now

v sad

once exploit feature is fixed, this will be pretty much impossible

anyone have a light at the end of the tunnel for manu mats?

Went hunting for Selenium the other day. Found 51 in short order at CPD-51 3323 1 d a which has water geysers:

The needle crystals there all dropped Technetium. Also got plenty of Arsenic, Tin and Mercury.

Has anyone confirmed this one way or the other - when a cmdr exhausts the mats at a surface site, are they dead for all cmdrs until next respawn cycle (like core asteroids), or does every cmdr get his/her own copy (unlike core asteroids)?

I would hope/guess/suspect the latter.

Can anyone please confirm whether it still works to "refresh" a HGE by logging? I tried it several times now and it does not work for me but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Guys, the HGE exploit does still work, you just have to exit to desktop, instead of exit to main menu. No task killing or anything like that, just exit the game open it again, go to supercruise and drop in the same HGE again for as long as timer lasts.

Imo it's only really worth doing for military Supercaps, pharmaceutical isolators and Improvised components. Good luck and happy hunting.

That does make me happy, and I want them to know that I do not enjoy using exploits, however the alternative in this case (Improvised components) is too painful to bear thinking about.

Good to know I don’t need to task kill.

I don’t enjoy doing this but finding PI and MSCs appears virtually impossible currently. I picked up x3 PI, from one drop, whilst scooping after a kill but that’s it from those two Mats and I’ve been doing little else but combat and HGE searching with my primary account since my second account went on DW2 back in early Jan.

Frankly I’m grateful, and slightly miffed I hadn’t realised, this is still a ‘working’ bug.

The new hacks around that nerfs always make me LOL. Frontier should really be embarrassed about these latest ones in my opinion. Having to force quit the game for this mechanic is a new low!
