materials getting destroyed if you drive them over?

I was at a Guardian site earlier unlocking the FSD booster. I drove over a technology component and it flew off at a velocity fast enough to put it into orbit.

That this isn't unusual suggests that something weird is going on with the game physics.

It was possible to destroy them in Horizons too, but in Odyssey it is way easier, they have become too fragile..

This is also an issue with the Sentinel material drops where collision with their remains causes their drops to fly off into nirvana. Or maybe purgatory, I’m not quite sure at that speed. Sometimes all three drops will be there, sometimes only one. Or just none… occasionally I’ve found them a few dozen meters from the spot I shot a Sentinel down, in a random direction.

I would try to avoid the issue with a higher gravity world but all those Guardian ruins seem to be placed on ones with .3 or below.

Not possible if they are close together. You can only aim at one. So is this called a feature or a bug?
In both cases it is frustrating.

If they are really close together you can get right up next to them in scoop range and just pick them up by selecting them in the contacts panel without moving, done it plenty of times. Yes there are times when you miss out, but you can usually get them all by being careful with how you drive.

This is the way🙂 Just park the SRV very close to the bunch (doesn't even need to be right over them) and select them one-by-one in the contacts screen.

PS. Physics in most games breaks in peculiar, amusing and frustrating ways so I don't even get mad if my SRV or material gets yeeted or whatever. Especially after a "minor" klang incident in Space Engineers that destroyed half of my base along with the ultralight aircraft that went "clang" in the first place🤪

From what i can tell they aren't destroyed, just yeeted into orbit or into the crust. :ROFLMAO:
I am not sure they make orbit.

You can get a similar event if you shoot loose a Geo sat at a geyser if the geyser isn’t fully inert the Geo gets blasted strait up, I have even seen it go on the radar. One time after this happened I found later the scoopable item just lying on the ground it couldn’t have rolled there so must have been a geyser shot dropped back to the surface.
