Thank you for the answers! Seriously an amazing team. You can just feel the dedication from how detailed the answers are. I look forward to tomorrow!

....I've created a 16 page document that covers the complex rules for just one track! This is being implemented into our engine and is constantly being refined, the results so far are amazing. Every track has the same diligent approach and as there are so many track types you can imaging how much effort goes into it.

This bit alone was worth the CHC cost. YES!!! Each coaster type does need a manual to ensure the rest of the team keep it looking and working in a believable way.

The hilarious thing is that at almost the exact same time you replied with this, another game released an image that shows what happens if you try and make this type of game without being diligent: https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...691_986871398071698_5376655357477070308_o.jpg

^^^ here we have a coaster train with cars so close together it couldn't possibly make a turn without the sound of crumpling steel. This is the sort of uselessness that occurs when people don't take any real passion in what they're doing :)

Very, very good job!

EDIT: No laughing at the peeps in that pic, those guys are trying their best...

Thanks you for your dedications in every answer u write.... That passion u and all Frontier Team are getting on this development is .. is a blast... [heart]

tnks u Soo much !! :D i see in the "frontier" a new level of coaster's realism... :3

Thanks a billion for your reply to my questions. I was afraid they were a bit on the side, but your reply was, at least to me, inspiring!

Here's another one for you. But it really goes out to the whole team. Will you be posting a post mortem when the game is released? As a current gamedev student I'd absolutely love to read through page after page and have a peek behind the scenes about anything you're all willing to discuss in such document.

Sam Denny - It's good to meet a fan of the old school wooden coasters, I'm also a big fan of wooden coasters as they are stand as some of the most beautiful pieces of engineering ever made in the name of fun.

As for your questions.. I cannot reveal all the coaster types we have planned just yet, it would ruin the surprise for you and I know you'd prefer to wait ;)
I can tell you that we have a number of vintage coasters on our lists and I promise you will not be disappointed [up]

The wooden coaster construction is going to be something very special, we cannot rush this feature and are putting our heart and soul into ensuring that it can deliver as much fidelity and grace as the steel coaster construction will. I'm really looking forward to sharing this with you guys in the near future, it's going to be epic :)

The last paragraph that Sam mentioned really got me excited about the wooded coasters. Sam is certainly treating his work with the upmost attention to detail.

I just have to tip my hat off to you Sam, I can't tell you how much I/we appreciate you taking the time to answer our questions. The fact that you guys are directly interacting with the community just shows how dedicated you are to your consumer base, and I have to tell you that inspires great confidence in us! I can hardly say the same about the.....other game.....so it means a lot to us that you guys are willing to communicate with us. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! I could not be more excited about this game! [up][up][up]

Hi Sam,

To answer your questions:

  • No, I do not have dimensions on rollercoasters in a database...
  • And my coaster experience is very limited (compared to many others); But I love dark-coasters and dark-rides a lot as in "laser-coasters" like the "Vogelrock" in a famous Dutch park named "Efteling".

The questions I would like to ask you are:

  1. Will you be basing your coasters/(flat)rides purely on British/American parks? Or will you (also) look abroad to add types/prebuilt coasters? I've seen a lot of Dutch guys on (including myself), and I think it's safe to say we have some great coasters and (dark) rides over here as well as in many other coutries in (mainland) Europe.
  2. Will the (flat)rides (not just the coasters) have customizing option(s) as well? Not just themes, but also options such as light-colors, maybe the colors of the booms/arms/seats/car(s)/rail(s)/etc? TL;DR: how deep can we go design-wise with the rides?
  3. You have stated before that you want to give the power to the people (to keep in the tradition of terrible puns [noob]), Will there be like a "basic mode" and "expert mode" when designing rides? That way you won't overload the users on inititial play, but only when they choose to use those options will they become available? Options such as recoloring sections of track, not just the whole coaster?
  4. Will there be coaster/water interaction? Like Splashes or other ride/water interactions?

And to finish my post; I want to compliment you and your team on what you have showed us so far. It blew me away.

Sam! THANK YOU for your replies! Loved to read them. So much awesomeness.
I loved the idea of coloring too, thank you for telling us.

The document.. I LOVE that you are going into deep for this game.. Nothing "left to random". I noticed it when you started to show videos/shots of concept sketches with small sketches.. the one with biomes I think was the one that made me think "They are really not leaving anything to random". <3 I have full confidence in you.[heart]

I know my initial question to you was a little short and blunt. I kind of wanted get it out before I forget to ask! hahaa.

I have a new question. I have noticed that the flat rides shown are mostly theme intense, but not all of them. I wonder if you are going to offer rides that are themed, also offer same type of ride that is more generic or is there some truth to the "modularity" or was it just fan speak based on different concept sketches?

Also I hope you do read the fans suggestions on rides and themes. <3

Well it's time for me to head off to bed! [woah]

Thanks for putting up with my ramblings, it's great to discuss everything rides with like-minded people [yesnod]

I'll be back again tomorrow night with more answers, almost through the first page! Woo!

I have to say it warms our hearts to see how excited you guys are to enjoy Planet Coaster, it's a real honour to be sharing this journey with all of you.

Keep up the good work and goodnight! [hehe]

Thanks for Al the answers [up]

Those were some excellent answers! Super excited when I read about the 16 page document lol
Thanks again Sam for your time.

And it seems if theres no limit of questions Sam is never going to finish answering us [haha]

Sam, thank you. I have not been asking questions, as i figure you'll never get through all the questions already asked.
I appreciate and acknowledge that you, and Frontier, are willing to share, interact and take suggestions.
Building a stable and publishable application is a complex, seemingly endless and often thankless task, and taking time out to talk to us is an easy thing to discard when the pressure is on.

As a community it seems we can 'wait another week' for more tolerantly than we can 'put up with silence'. At least, based on the reactions i've read here and over on that other game's forum. :)

So, thank you.

Hi guys.

I've been traveling this evening to see my family for a funeral, we've only just got there due to a massive delay. I'm too tired from all the driving to post tonight but I promise I'll double my efforts tomorrow. I hope you understand. A thousand apologies.

No need to apologize, take all the time you need.
Like Coasterbuff, familly comes before everything else.
