If someone does certain work by choice (voluntarily), can they really be called a slave? I was always under the impression that to be a slave, you are someone else's property and their servant (in other words you dont have a choice). If imperial slaves do in fact have a choice, such as sitting on the couch eating chips all day, then they really cant be called slaves can they? I'm confused...
Edit: I suppose modern day slavery can be defined differently. Even though we are no longer whipped into picking cotton fields anymore, we could still be considered to be slaves just the same. Money is collected from us by the government (we serve them). Who then go and do what they please with the money. I guess in modern times its more disguised. We are under the impression the government "serves" the people, but in fact, it enslaves the people and instead serves those who control the government. Which would mean we are still slaves, just "modern day slaves".
