Mercenaries of Mikunn - The Background Simulation and Colonization Test

We found a bug with conflicts (war, elections and civil war) not resolving correctly - winners weren't being picked. We deployed a hot fix last night and today's background sim run has provided some winners so this look sto be fixed.

Great news!

Have any of the recent patches, including the hotfix resolved the issue of expanded factions properly initiating a war? Dukes of Mikunn have been Civil War Critical 3 times (1/15, 2/9, and 3/24), and have yet to have a Civil War. I think you mentioned they went to Civil War with nobody or something like that.

Will you be retroactively applying station flips for this for groups effected by it (other than Leesti, which looks like it has already been done)?

There are shenanigans afoot!

While yesterday's drop was very frustrating it at least made some sense, a faction with a station (HR Dynamic Commodities) went up from 15.8 to 30.1. Now, this could have been through missions, though with only 15.8 percent and a 100,000LS flight time between the jump in point and the station I am skeptical that this is what occurred. What I suspect happened is that a certain someone and his little helpers dropped a large amount of something something on Friend Station and caused them to sky rocket upwards. Okay, frustrating yes, but it fits with the logic that the background simulation has presented so far.

HOWEVER, today's numbers have convinced me that the movement of the influence is at least partially due to a bug. The reason I believe this is because the New HR 7327 Future faction jumped up from 4.5 to 14.3, which is completely unprecedented.

1. They do not control the system so they could not have been raised by bounty hunting.

2. They do not own a station/outpost so they could not have been raised by trade or similar station based activities.

3. They had only 4.5 influence in the system yesterday, which was actually down from the 5.9 they'd had the night previous to last. This fact coupled with the delay caused by the distance to the stations leads me to believe that the jump could not have been completed by missions either as they would not have spawned in high enough numbers to cause a jump of 9.8 percent in one night. That sort of push would have taken a very large number of people and I really don't believe that a large number of people who were trying to mess with us would decide to support one of the lowest factions in the system in the slowest way possible (repeatedly running missions).

There is also nothing to make me believe that this is a by product of the hot-fix that Michael Brookes mentioned earlier.

If anyone knows how this could happen feel free to chime in.

Cheers,
Monte Fisto

You guys aren't in a war/civil war anywhere yet, are you? I've noticed some weird jumps like that during the times when one of our expanded factions was in a civil war. Just a guess at a possible cause. I know you guys have players explicitly opposing your efforts as well, so maybe more likely.

One player group is running missions while our missions are bugged. Its a tad one sided ;)

They are running missions.

That doesn't make any sense though, why would they run missions explicitly for New HR? It doesn't fit the previous opposition MO, which has been to support Dynamic (it was the one that rose the day before.)

And also, how could they push it that much considering it should have only been spawning 4.5 percent of missions?

Tide goes out, influence comes in; you can't explain that.

I think they were just doing any mission that wasn't Dukes.

And so my journey begins..

The prerequisites for my journey to Mikunn are taxing, mind boggling even at the route i must take since im pretty much a new player, but im sure ill get there someday...soon
