So unlike your "Glass half-empty" alter ego ...Hey all! Just wanted to say how much I really enjoy this game. After joining the Mercs of Mikunn it even got so much better.
Walt Kerman said:The Mercs of Mikunn's, as they had come to be called, immediately withdrew their "protection services" and a Law Party found themselves unable to deal with a random bout of increased piracy in the sector. This continued for many months and trade within the among the four systems - Kwatee, Hiraga, Sukua, and even Mikunn dropped. Mikunn, however with its platinum and gold rich belts were able to pay their men directly with their primary export.
Warning from another player group:
Do not dump exploration data on a faction you want to help - This tanked our influence, which is now down to 4% from the 50%s, and frontier has looked into and responded that it is by design.
Returning exploration data can possible undo months of hard work, so please avoid it at all costs! It is literally the only action we took during the days when it happened (and it happened very very quickly, the connection is pretty undeniable)
Why is that by design? That sounds completely ass-backwards.
Hey again, this is by design as I have just checked the back-end.
Interesting. Sounds like a great way to bomb your enemies. Send five commanders out for a month, each bombs a separate system, bam, a 5 system player faction is no more.
And by great I mean concerning/horrible.

Dunno, they haven't said.
Here's the entirety of the response post:
It was in response to a ticket we raised where CMDR ATT sold 140 million credits worth of exploration data at V1 Apology in Cegreeth, and now we're going to lose the station because we're down to 4%. So a word of warning and whatnot.
