Game Discussions Microsoft Flight Simulator

left ctrl and '+' or '-'.

Hot damn, I didn't think this existed at all in the game. Even searched in various flight sim forums and nobody knew it existed...

Funny part is that I had actually seen "simulation rate" options in bindings but never imagined it meant time compression, I thought it was something like X-Plane's "flight models per second" or something...

My time compression is to set the autopilot and go do some chores or play some Overwatch on PS4 :p

Never left MSFS2020 unattended as I don't do long flights anyway, but in ED I usually engaged supercruise assist (or just left it unattended in supercruise before SCA was a thing) and alt-tabbed to Football Manager to move through the week and prepare the next match. ED and Football Manager are by far the 2 most alt-tabbable games I ever played, so they make a great pair.

I rarely walk away from MSFS because there's so much to see, but I have on occasion gone to do some dishes when flying over familiar territory. So far my flights average 30 to 60 minutes. Someday I'll be making that six HOUR flight across the Atlantic in real time (otherwise I might just well teleport), and during that flight I might just paint the house!

Guys, after the update, on the same settings as yesterday my game looks bad aka blurry as hell. Every texture is like with photoshop gauss blur applied. Tried different AA setting nothing seems to be helping. To be honest it looks like "c word" :(((

Apparently turning off the "developer mode" and restarting after fixed the issue. Uff, was getting seriously worried for a bit.

It's amazing how absolute rubbish Bing Maps is in my neck of the woods... RUBBISH. Thankfully MSFS somehow compensates for this to some degree, but it still suffers because of this awful source material.

You can stop in the Azores islands mid-way to europe to cut that journey shorter, you can even spend some time there hopping between all the islands. They're know as the Atlantic's answer to Hawaii, although I personally think the Canary Islands a bit further to the southeast deserve that title more.

I don't know about all that, I just know that in my state that Google is the CLEAR winner, and I mean that literally - clear, clear, beautiful and CLEAR. AFWIW, I don't even like Google, so I'm not cheerleading!

I really hope that as part of Microsoft's backing of this new FS, they update their maps. Remember when Microsoft was the king of map software? They need to reclaim that title and the pride that goes with it.

I mean there are plenty of freeware flight sims but we opt for FS2020. If OnAir is great I dont see why a few bucks would be a deal breaker, to me. It has a 7-day trial, so might jump on that and see. :)

Well, that's up to you of course - but for me, having just thrown £110 down on FS2020 I'm loathe to sign myself up to any on-going subscription cost to play.

Especially if the developers are already working on something similar-ish-probably natively that we'll get later.

MSFS certainly didn't do my islands any favours either...Bergen in Norway was even worse...but some guy did a freeware fix for it...I need to find someone handy with an editor that lives here now :D

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
When did you sign up?

I signed up last Saturday.

I think I misjudged their progress, though. Looking at the site today they are still crawling through Friday's requests. Hopefully before the weekend I'll get it, but who knows?

I've played a bit more of it and am still having a blast. I found a few annoyances, but am unsure if they're bugs or just me not grasping their systems yet, but overall I would recommend it.

Some things I've done in OnAir:
-Completed several missions around my local area, seeing some airstrips I've never been at before. Each flight felt meaningful.

-Bought my first airplane, a Cessna 172 Skyhawk G1000. It felt so good to buy a plane, even a virtual one. Kinda silly, but yeah.

-Got a checkride in a Diamond DA62 so now I can fly multi-engine land aircraft. I had a few annoyances with their checkride system, though, such as a problem where I'd rent an aircraft for checkride but then couldn't fly it because the fuel was practically empty. I could not put fuel in it either, despite the fact that I rented it from an airstrip with 100LL fuel availalbe. Bug? Dunno, but it was annoying. Still the checkride part was fun after I manged to find a plane to rent that didn't have an empty tank. OnAir makes you perform a few manuvers (with customizeable difficulty) like turning towards certain headings and holding altitude, and finding your way back to your starting airport.

-Picked up a passenger mission to ferry three people from one airstrip to another about 10 miles away. I dind't have any capable aircraft at the time so they've been waiting there for a couple of days now. lol. No one has told them about Uber I guess.

Just as I was about to start my first OnAir flight I got an email that my FSE is ready. Registered last thursday, FWIW. It was a bit cumbersome to setup, but I think I've got it now. Was looking for a job roughly in the area I was already flying, and found a C172 for rent, with jobs going back and forth between two airports 6 miles apart. You can literally see the destination runway when you take-off from the departure runway. :D I doubt this is how it works IRL, but if 10k/hour is a normal wage for a private pilot I am getting my license tomorrow! :D

Let us know your experience with it!
Are users already demanding more lucrative ways of earning money, so that they can get a 747 after a couple of hours? ;)
