Helicopters are likely to arrive in the first three months.

I'm not sure how certain this is, but it seems very reasonable as it'll be timed for (early) Christmas.

Neat, didn't expect it'd come in that soon.

Is anyone else tempted by the 'PC Disc' variant?

I'm giving some thought to it for the 'Premium Delux' version, as much for the "manual (containing system requirements, etc. And describing the included airports and aircraft in detail)" and the "Premium Deluxe guide (hardcover book, describing the additional aircraft and airports, which are not included in the standard Edition)".

I'm not so worried about getting started on the 18th as I have a 'fun trip to the hospital' scheduled that day, so likely will be shattered afterwards. Also, it's been ages since I had a 'game in a box' and I quite like the retro-novelity of the idea - against that I'm sure long term Steam Workshop integration will be of more value.

Disk version will require disk1 to be inserted so you can play.
Archaic and stupid system in this age.

You can share bookmarks and locations on Bing maps...see no reason why the same or similar function wouldn't be in MSFS. Knowing how easy it was to hook up with friends via Xbox live too ... I can see it being as simple as joining your mates in game and being put straight at their location on spawning in.

My first task in game will be to fly all over these islands starting at our local airstrip...since I've never seen them from the air. I keep meaning to take the daily return flight to Kirkwall but just not got around to it yet. I've flown thousands of times all over the world...just not actually landed in most of the aeroplanes I took off in :)
Great trip done it many times.

It would remind me of the Xbox too much I think....besides the fact I removed my blu-ray player some time ago. I use the Xbox for blu-ray when I'm running on backup electricity from the wind turbine or diesel genny when t'interweb and streaming services like Netflix are unavailable due to that...we only have mains electricity up here 360 days of the year :)

I still only have 1 physical PC game disk...Silent Hunter 3 from the 90's. Just to remind me that such things existed at one point in history :D

Inverness area.
Love hoping round all the local strips.
Barra unfortunately not in Alpha/Beta. I hope they get it sorted for release.
I lived on South Uist for 10 years from the early 90's until I was wounded in 2002 ...Flew into Barra a couple of times when I was headed home on leave. Hairy landing in a gale on that beach. One of the few times I wished that civilian aircraft had issued me with a parachute or let me use my own :D

In an unpressurized aircraft, there is not really any technical hurdle that would prevent you from parachuting out if you really want to.
...other than the other people who might strongly object.

Inverness is in my list of places to fly when this game finally releases. Inverness, the surrounding lakes (especially nessie of course), Fort William, the Ben Nevis mountain, Cairngorms national park, and the isle of skye...

My list of places to go (especially natural wonders) is already huge... So many places to go, so many small planes to fly... I don't even know where I'll start. :D

See? They would totally understand.
I mean... If you're flying over your house, why bother going to the airport and then back home on foot or by car.
Strangely enough...when I lived in Uist there was a huge NATO exercise there whilst I was on extended recovery leave. I had a Rapier anti aircraft missile system parked at the bottom of my garden...the RAF Regiment guys manning it had no idea I was in the forces so we had a good trade with them...fresh eggs, bread and milk for Compo rations etc.

My daughter who was about 11 at that time rushed through to the bedroom at 2am one morning..."Dad, dad! Wake up...there's men with guns at the door!" Slightly panicked, I went to investigate... and found the guys from my troop (and my temporary replacement) all crouched by the garden wall geared up for bear. They had HALO dropped in a mile or so from my house.

Mikey, my best mate chirped up.. "Hi mucker, we're here to take out that Rapier in the morning...thought we'd pop in for a brew first since you're here."

Anyway, I ushered them in, got a brew going and we chatted noisily catching up on boring stuff whilst the guys all went off individually to have a shower and raid my fridge...best bit was, the BFG (another mate) went out in the morning wrapped only in a towel and wearing flip-flops, wandered over to the Rapier eating a bit of toast and announced to the young sergeant there that they were all officially captured and that the Rapier had been blown up...turned on his heel and wandered nonchalantly back into my kitchen.

The Rockapes on that Rapier never forgave me for not mentioning I was a serving soldier...not to mention being a filthy collaborator to boot :D

Mine too, I don't even start listing them.
My 'Beagle Point', a destination that remained elusive for me IRL too are the Marquises.

This is for example Nuku Hiva... looks as exotic and beautiful as its name sounds. :)

Fantastic place!

In the theme of french owned islands, one of my favorite places in the world (even though I haven't actually been there yet) is Reunion Island, which features landscapes similar to those, as well as boasts one of the grumpiest volcanoes on earth, the Pithon de la Fournaise. So a new Tour that will soon be provided by my new Air Tourism virtual company, Volcanair.

Reunion Island is also on my shortlist of islands to escape move to when I can finally retire, together with Tenerife and La Palma in the Canary Islands (they all have the same kind of features I love, mountains, sea, lots of unspoiled nature for hiking/trekking, dramatic landscapes, active volcanoes, and cheap living but still "first world").
