Left it running overnight - woke up, and it was all done. Spent half an hour fiddling with the settings etc, and then decided to just fly to Arbroath (my home town). It has an airport! News to me... but there is an old marine base on the outskirts, so maybe they've just translated the wee airfield to being an "airport". Anyway, took off, immediately crashed into the terminal, decided I'd seen enough.
Bought the damn thing on Steam. Full premium super-duper whizzbang deluxe version. Why? I've been watching quite a lot of videos the past few days (hasn't everyone?) and I just love the 787. Need the full thing to fly that. Their inbuilt marketplace is charging £25 for a single wee aircraft... and yeah, sod that. Cheaper to buy the premium deluxe and you get 10 of them, including the 787.
Now (after a bit of kaffuffle uninstalling the old version & getting the Steam version to recognise that, yes, it needs to find the data again & not show me the Blue Bar Of Death) I'm re-installing it, which it'll do in the background today while I'm working. Might get a bit of a play by lunchtime.
Noticed the data folder it downloads has two parent folders: Community (which is empty initially), and Official, which contains the 91GB downloaded files. So it looks like there is a place to put 3rd party mods. Also noticed there's a developer mode and menu from within the game.
Anyway, fly safe pilots & enjoy our planet. I certainly intend to. If anyone wants to add/look for me in-game, my handle is 'StockportJambo'.
