That happens if you interrupt the download and resume it later.
To give you a better idea of what a patchwork quilt based on the Orkney islands looks like...maybe there's some magic settings option to get rid of it. I've cached the whole of the islands so it's not that. But...the infernal flashing as the tiles draw in in varying shades as you fly along is pretty horrendous. If anyone is a bit wiser as to what's happening there, please...do tell before I bin the thing.
............
What are your GRAPHICS settings set at for various elements, try bumping a few up and see if you get away with the frame rate hit... It may be using a generic setting at certain levels to reduce strain on graphics... Although my video was at dusk, I didn't notice this, I can go up and take another look!![]()
Ok, that's pretty shocking.
But at that point, it has to be a bug somewhere, you can clearly distinguish the checkerboard pattern.
Do you live on a boat @Para Handy ?I just did a quick flight out of Kirkwall (had to visit the source of my uisge-beatha at the Highland Park distillery*) - meandering about it looked really weird, as if it was swapping in-and-out two different sets of photo tiles - the same details were in the tiles but the image had different hue etc - almost like one set was from a dry summer and the next was from a normal damp autumn. I had set the sim to mid-July and mid-day so it can't have been mixing-up seasons. Not seeing that effect over Outer Hebrides, Great Glen, glesgey or auld reekie though - enough other issues, poor mesh, lousy autogen, no castle, etc etc.
* - No I couldn't make out the distillery - so I just had to make do with a dash in my coffee.

Glad it isn't just me then, that's exactly what I'm getting...tried a few other places I've lived and I know well...Uist north and south...none of that tiling over there in Na h-Eileanan Siar, must just be Orkney.I just did a quick flight out of Kirkwall (had to visit the source of my uisge-beatha at the Highland Park distillery*) - meandering about it looked really weird, as if it was swapping in-and-out two different sets of photo tiles - the same details were in the tiles but the image had different hue etc - almost like one set was from a dry summer and the next was from a normal damp autumn. What's your area look like using Bing Maps? It seems MSFS uses Bing Map data, and the maps for my area are pretty rubbish in spots (clouds covering things, sections alternating between summer and winter, etc). Google and Apple maps are way better for my neck of the woods, but we know Microsoft won't be switching to them.Apart from that, massively disappointed with Orkney scenery...looks like a badly stitched duvet cover even at Ultra settings. Perhaps if I moved to a city then flew over my house I'd be more impressed...right now with the way it looks, I'm tempted to uninstall it.
Bing maps looks fine...it's just the flight sim that's burgered...What's your area look like using Bing Maps? I hope they're cheap...We've got nothing but room here brother...plenty of empty properties too![]()
Compared to the states...even mainland UK... the properties are dirt cheap. A 15 acre croft will set you back just north of £85k ($111k US). You can't buy a one bedroom flat in the south of England for that.I hope they're cheap...
I have found a few bugs that are already known (trim, etc.),
