Mineing nerf

See, that's what FD really should've done... like how we have different organic/geological "exploration" stuff, the mining things which generate the best cash should be out in the void, not in the bubble.
They could have started in the bubble, until those fields were depleted which would organically entice the miners further afield in search of riches and they might engage explorers to find, and keep quiet about all the rich rings, lest they deplete quicker due to competition. I envisage demands for OPEN only mining...

Imagine the salt if the mining sites could be fully depleted, forcing miners ever further out of the bubble...
Neat idea, but I wouldn't like it from a realism point of view. Planetary ring hotspots are vast volumes of asteroid-filled space; far bigger than terrestrial planet surfaces. We shouldn't be able to deplete them noticeably in a few years.

Should be true for the basic materials and rares at the background rate. But the hot spots with higher concentrations of significant or rare materials could certainly run out or become swiss-cheesy enough that they aren't a good bet anymore.

The ironic thing is that while out exploring over the last few hours I have found overlapping LTD hotspots and overlapping VO hotspots. Tried laser mining the overlapping LTD hotspots, that was a bit disappointing: not many 'roids with diamonds, and not a lot of diamonds in those 'roids. But the overlapping VO hotspots are heaving with core 'roids! 😃

Dang-it man. Been on a lot of exploring runs and I've yet to get a double anything. I came close with three painite spots all in a close line, but no overlap at all. :(

I've been looking on and off for a few months now, not too far from the bubble so if I find anything it's only a few jumps from my home system. Gonna set up my exploraconda to strip mine that overlapping LTD hotspot, currently mining the overlapping VO hotspot in my Krait Phantom. I like the way exploration and mining can be combined: do some exploration, find something worth mining, then sell it for oodles of credits, and get a bonus for the explo data too.

But I will keep looking for the overlapping painite hotspot or a triple overlapping LTD hotspot: that would be the exploration equivalent of winning the lottery! 😀

Mmmkay, suit yourself CMDR. Lucky I just posted the link instead of looking up the system names for you.
Another nice commander did post a system name a while ago. I was tempted (briefly), but ultimately I will be a lot happier if I find the triple overlapping LTD hotspot or overlapping painite spots while I am exploring, not by looking it up on a website. Finding something via a website won't give me the same sense of achievement as if I find it myself.

Must be great experience for new players once the existing crew has grazed all stuff. In a galaxy with hundreds of billions of stars. And a couple thousand players.

Oh, and I won't tell anyone about my goldmine. Don't want everyone and their bloody dog messing up my lovely triple LTD hotspot! 😛
