Minting Credits one Heart at a time.

TL;DR with a fair amount of prep, a CMDR can make serious credits off Thargoid Interceptors.

My wing-mate decided she wanted to up her Thargoid hunting game, so after upgrading her Krait a bit we started taking down Cyclops, then Basilisks, and now finally Medusas. With roughly an hour of active play-time per week devoted to maintaining Rank 5 with Arissa and two or three Interceptors per evening (half an hour to an hour a night), that’s translating into about 1 billion Cr per week or about 160 million credits per hour. Each.

Anyone have any thought on any angles I’m missing? (Particulars below).

1.) Mostly engineered Cargo optimized Cutter for ALD power play cargo runs. 720 ton capacity means 7 runs weekly to maintain rank 5.
2.) Fully engineered AX Cutter (Prismatic Shield tank, Gauss x2, Modified Plasma Chargers x2, Heavy Efficient Regeneration Sequence Gimbled Beam, Flak x2, multi-limpet controller, 80 tons of cargo). G3 AX Krait (Modified Plasma Chargers x3, Large Efficient Regeneration Sequence Gimbled Beam x2).

Cyclops are trivial as the Cutter can face-tank the lightning (especially backed by regen. beams). Biggest issue is triggering panic shields with excessive PC bursts. Basilisks are fun. Medusa are challenging as the phasing damage usually eats about half the Cutter’s hull during the fight.

I'd like to hear about that Krait build. o7
I’ll get an EDSY build up tomorrow. She’s still working on the engineering grind so most of the equipment is G3, but the beams and PD are all G5. She avoids pulling agro and doesn’t deal with the swarms in this build. Definitely not suitable for solo.

Note: not as engineered as I recalled... Swap the beams for Flak and she's soloed Cyclops with it. For our purposes all that really matters is enough shields to take an accidental agro pull, beams for regen/shield burning, and the PCs for exerting.

Gauss Cannons?

Cyclops and Basilisks can be easily nailed with modified plasmas (110 penetration) or shards, but they lose too much damage against Medusas (170 AR) and they start to lose damage at 1000m, which will put you too close to Lightning.

So maybe you'd better move to an all out Gauss setup?

Also, i find cold builds easier to deal with - no shields, no shield boosters (replaced with heatsinks), lighter ships > faster ships, easier pip management
Instead packing AFMU and repair limpets (and 3x MRP, dont forget to repair them between runs and even midfight)
You can laugh at the lightning attacks...

Thank you for the input🙂. The advantage of the PCs is ammunition and heat management. We found we could kill more interceptors faster by lasering the shields, using PCs to exert, then killing hearts with Gauss. With an all gauss build we had to rearm much more frequently.

One of these days I’ll try a cold orbit build, but my FAOff skills aren’t there yet. In the mean time, I practice with the shielded Cutter. Effectively infinite shields make an excellent buffer for orbit-practice.
