Mission Payouts and Career Pathways

Just tossing out some suggestions to revamp payouts and add depth to different career pathways.

Trade Bonuses

  • Consistent, quick deliveries yields a small bonus for reliability, potential for scaling based on local rep and level of danger. A players "reliability" could be tracked on the local and galactic-power level and offer random local contract offers, and bigger less frequent work offered by Federal or Imperial navies.

  • General commodity trade between markets could yield an efficiency bonus. Acquisition of raw materials from rings and dumped into local markets could earn dedicated cmdrs rare engineering mats.

Combat Bonuses

  • Participation in local combat zones on a consistent basis could earn a loyalty bonus and earn a credit bonus when the conflict concludes. Bonuses would scale based on number of vouchers handed in, and whether the supported faction won the action. These rewards could also be used to generate random missions for high-level targets and large payouts based on involvement.

  • Bounties handed in for major powers earn reputation with that power and trigger rare wetwork missions (sent driectly to the Cmdr) with large credit payouts, rare material rewards, or a large bump in that powers rank.

Exploration Bonuses

  • As we have learned recently, a very small percentage of the galaxy has been discovered. For those who make frequent, first time system discoveries, these commanders could be payed a an additional bonus for finds starting after 5-10. The bonus could be a percentage of the current Universal Carto. payout and scale to a capped percentage of that amount. Additionally, Cmdrs with frequent finds could also enjoy module or repair bonuses based on their reputation.

General Bonuses

  • Away from credit bonuses, frequent good deeds and acts of loyalty could merit reduced repair, rearm, or refuel costs in certain systems or with certain factions.

  • For those who enjoy a more sinister play style, a piracy reputation could be added with similar perks as above offered in Anarchy systems.

All of these fit into a larger narrative I envision for careers that puts more control in the players hands to choose a path that is right for them and earn rewards for maximizing efficiency, loyalty, and reliability within these pathways. It would mean greater involvement in local politics, as well as the overarching narrative of the galactic superpowers and their affairs. It would also lay some foundations to eventually adding options for a "home base" or "home system" where Cmdrs are known, respected, or feared. This plays nicely into the new notoriety system if you are a criminal, and offers a starting point to build an opposite to the notoriety put forth in 3.0 if you're a more neutral or lawful player.
