Moar FD directed events like Palin

I have switched from Xbox to pc am a Elite exploration and from a new players point of view, “what did I miss” what are you all on about. I was chugging around Maia in a type 6 looking for the matts as I just unlocked farseer.. just want one meta alloy??? Have no hard points don’t know about xeno weapons never seen a Thargoid, ranked harmless and not to mention the techno aliens that I’ve not visited yet... my point is if you have just picked up the game none of this new content matters a hoot ! Great if you have been playing for ages have done erything and can build an anti Xeno fighter class and can take on the bugs - most newbies still don’t know how to use the radar in the hud! Just a thought!

Now where did I leave my Vulture?
Now where did I leave my hatch-breaking limpet controller? Grrrr! The lady said "BLAST" the hatches, and seeing that I use weapons to blast other things (like rocks, Guardian pylons, etc) to get the goods, one would think I could use my lasers to blast the hatch. Instead I get this blasted bounty on my head! GRRRRR!!!!

So much for being newbie friendly, LOL.

Yes more stories like this, but less bug ridden.

edit:
and maybe with some kind of omni limpet and filters for contacts.

It occurs to me that myself and the other Reapers won't be leaving Colonia to participate in the Maia shenanigans.

And you know what? That's cool. I'm really enjoying watching this from afar. It makes the galaxy feel alive. In fact, I dare say the choices of any Commander that preclude them from participating gives even further legitimacy and weight to those very choices.

Good show, FDEV. Keep it up.

Another plus from me OP.

You're not the only one who thought this (and I know you're not newb), strange choice of language from FD.

Yes, she could easily have said, "Use hatch breakers to open the hatches without damaging the ship." Oi..

Well if I remove all my precious HRPs from my Vulture, maybe I can at least rescue a few of these poor stupid souls. Now tell me, does OO sell a hatch-breaking controller? I'm not going all the way back to the Bubble for these! A collector limpet controller might be handy, too..

I should have researched all this before making the long trek out here... My Keelback would have been great for this job!

I think there are people sitting at the megahsip comms that don't have any idea how things down there in the cockpit really work. I somewho got used to it.

Still I hope some clever R&D guy somewher in the bubble is making a break through at omni-limpet controllers soon.

This event has proven to be a good shot in the arm for many folks. I don't want to reduce it to "take away something players want (G5 drives)", but perhaps that is the mechanism for engagement after all.

I took my exploracobra over to Maia last night to see the scene unfold. I am by no means equipped to fight Thargoids, but I did enjoy seeing them for the first time up close - and actively retaliating against a much-loved engineer no less.

Sneaky scan followed by rapid escape will do for now.

YES! I go clear my bounty, equip a hatch-breaker limpet, return to the megaship, and they are like, "Hey man, use your repair limpets that EVERYBODY CARRIES ALL THE TIME to fix us up in the next 30 seconds." And I'm like, "WTH dudes, do I look like AAA?"

I swear I'm going to go back and send Palin and his ship into the next life if this keeps up... Seriously, who wants to join me to help finish what the Thargoids started? It'll be worth it for the forum salt alone, LOL.

Always the case though. Players have all ages, skill levels, playstyles and generally no matter how FDev design scenarios they're sure to divide .. one person's bug hunt is another person's unwelcome death, by OP Thargoid.

I want to get hold of some meta alloys too and at the moment have no idea where I'm going to get them. But uncertainty is fresh and for as long as FD stay brave enough to step on some toes once in a while to keep the galaxy alive, I'm for all it.

I also think this is a nice pitch of mystery here. Many of the UA puzzles in the past have been beyond my IQ and while I apprectiate those being in the game too, a regular "Find Palin" storyline is pretty easy to empathise with.

As it happens it aslo serves to advertise engineers to newbie noobs, while 5000Ly is intermediate level imo. I've been in the game years and haven't unlocked Palin yet! Maybe I'll never get the chance now ... poor chap.

Anti-megaship torpedoes. (y)

many barnacles still have them. or any Thargoid Base (they have not been affected), or Darnielle's Progress, or (more randomly) in megaships / NHSS. Basically .. most places you could get 'em before ;)

Completely agree. This kind of stuff has really got things going. I also liked the CG even if the Alliance got screwed with a delivery point 161,000 lys away. We actually got some kind of fighting, especially between Feds and Imperials.

Keep shaking things up, make the superpowers fight, sent the thargoids to invade Colonia, kill some Engineers (but put some replacements), makes us care!

I was a bit late to the party (as always) and I guess all that mess had been fixed already when I arrived and so I can't confirm anything of what you say. Seems to be a constantly recurring theme of my life: it pays to be late...:cool:

Nothing I described was ever fixed. You can still reliably find invisible thargoid scouts depending on how bad the instancing is, and yesterday people had to plea for FDev to alleviate the fire zone around Palins base.
