Monkey Land: An attempt at a realistic British zoo

I mean on the actual building, not the fence behind it. I didn't think you could use the barriers in such a way in the game.
Planet Zoo Screenshot 2021.05.10 - 08.53.18.63.png

My guess is that is a barrier like this with the house built around it.

Thanks for the wonderful comments and likes everyone.

@NZFanatic That's just the chainlink barrier :)

#4 - Old World monkeys

Here comes the biggest update so far, the Old World monkey house and outdoor habitats. Let's take a look at the nearby nature trail first:

LyIqFqH.png

The park is built around woodland, some of which has been preserved within the park's grounds:

i5i0OWo.png

The trail features lots of trees and plant life, as well as ponds — the perfect nature reserve for native birds and insects:

The next animals on display are the Japanese macaques:

GgLDkWG.png

The macaques live on a rocky island formerly home to hamadryas baboons which left the collection in 2015:

d4WkCid.png

I based the design on the baboon island at Paignton Zoo which I remember as a kid:

t6AEsjF.png

Only two other parks house the species in the UK. There's a sizable group of 8 at Monkey Land (3.3.2):

ovJLmeM.png

The park has had success breeding the species, with two new arrivals recently, named Ringo and Twizzler:

The outdoor enclosure can also be seen from the woodland walk:

Next up is the mandrills, which are kept in an exhibit on the other side of the Old World monkey house:

Their exhibit was inspired by the baboon reserve at Yorkshire Wildlife Park:

The mandrill enclosure features lots of rocks, a moat, climbing ropes and two raised shelters:

They rarely use the shelters and instead prefer their indoor quarters:

I hope you enjoyed this update. In the next one, we're going to sink our teeth into the PrimeEat food court!

Thank you so much for the comments and likes.

#5 PrimeEat

This is a slightly smaller update but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

The park has its own fast food court/restaurant, aptly named PrimeEat (kinda like Primate):

The food court serves a selection of burgers, pizzas, vegetarian options, sides and desserts (in other words, mostly things I like lmao):

Overview of the interior - I based the décor and colours on Burger King:

Outside, there's an adventure play area in the woods for kids. It features a swing set, a slide, a firepole, climbing ropes and more. There’s a picnic area too, which I forgot to screenshot:

Also nearby is another restroom with baby changing facilities:

That wraps up this update. The next one will feature chimpanzees and bonobos as part of our first major exhibit.

Very cool. I don't have the time or skills to build this much detail.

By the way, those mac and cheese balls look amazing, as does my favorite: garlic bread (or even better: Texas toast)

Thank you for the likes and comments everyone.

#6 - Pan Trail

This is a hefty update which showcases the first major exhibit, named Pan Trail.

This is one of two entrances into Pan Trail. "Pan" is a reference to the genus of both the chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) and the bonobo (Pan paniscus):

The outdoor chimpanzee habitat can be viewed through two viewing windows or across a moat. This is the first of the two viewing windows, sheltered beneath a thatched roof:

This is the view from that area:

There's a second viewing area further along the pathway. This photo also shows off the dense planting around this zone, which is used to help immerse visitors:

This is the area where you can view the habitat from across a moat. The gate allows staff access to the backstage areas:

The moat allows the widest view of the outdoor chimpanzee habitat, which features lots of foliage and climbing opportunities:

Monkey Land is home to 18 Western common chimpanzees (7.7.5):

Pan Trail also features a "chimpanzee house", which allows visitors to view the chimpanzees and bonobos in their indoor enclosures:

The greenhouse creates a hot and humid atmosphere necessary for the exotic plants and also makes things more immersive:

I hope you enjoyed this update! In the next one, we're going to visit Gorilla Outlook.

Thanks for the lovely comments and likes once again.

@tigris115 I couldn’t agree more!

#7 - Gorilla Outlook

This is another of the park's big attractions, dedicated to the western lowland gorilla.

Leaving Pan Trail, this is the view towards Gorilla Outlook:

This area allows visitors a view of the outdoor gorilla habitat, separated by a moat:

I hope you enjoyed that update. Next up is a smaller update for capuchins.

Thanks for the comments and likes guys.

@Karen F @markun I plan to upload it to the workshop as soon as I’m done showing it. :)

I’ve got a smaller update for everyone today but I hope you all enjoy it nonetheless.

#8 - Capuchins

In this update, we're gonna check out the Colombian white-faced capuchins.

This is the view towards the capuchin exhibit from Gorilla Outlook. Kings of the Treetops is on the left:

How the freakin hell did I miss this! Weasel, words cannot describe how happy I am to see you here buddy! 😃

Super happy to see you're building in Planet Zoo, and even happier to see that your skills are just as great as they used to be in ZT2. Can't wait to see more!
