Yes, I agree.I've been reading some of the threads here and on reddit and steam regarding Odyssey, and while much of it is very valid criticism about bugs, server stability and framerates, I'm also seeing a surprising amount of people who are angry just because so many things look different now. I get it, change is scary, but the expansion hasn't even been out for a full week! Give it time! I've been playing all weekend and I'm already getting used to the new galaxy map lmao. I think the P.O.I. and Factions tabs in system view are way handier than the old system view too.
The new starport services and ship repair menus are confusing at first, but fleet carriers have already had this UI for a while. The new ship store is also so much nicer than the old one, you can actually see a render of the ship before buying instead of a fkin orange wireframe lol.
The only genuinely bad UI design-wise is the on-foot LeftAlt wheel, it is terribly stiff and the mouse-to-select is too slow for something that needs to be accessed quickly in the heat of battle. The InSight wheel also looks kinda ugly for something that is supposed to be the iphone of the future, but its pretty functional, getting to contacts, inventory, etc is very fast.
I dunno, I feel like a lot of the response to the new UI is kneejerk negativity just cause people have been playing with the old one for years. I'd rather see devs try to experiment with things like the UI than to leave it untouched and outdated forever out of fear of backlash.
Maybe, just maybe this is with the future in mind. In the future maybe, there'll be more than one place. The Lift in the stations really bugs me. Push Button, Menu asking where you want to go. You Can Only Go One Place
That might well be because they eventually plan to add more things. The Lift in the stations really bugs me. Push Button, Menu asking where you want to go. You Can Only Go One Place
Select a weapon, it shows it there along with ammo amount and number of grenades... However personally I think it should be in the bottom left not with the gun. Before I agree, please tell me where I can see which grenade type I have active.

I do not mind at all if they want to try new UI layouts.I've been reading some of the threads here and on reddit and steam regarding Odyssey, and while much of it is very valid criticism about bugs, server stability and framerates, I'm also seeing a surprising amount of people who are angry just because so many things look different now. Agreed, someone needs to go on a UI design course, which i have done.I do not mind at all if they want to try new UI layouts.
In fact I welcome it.
They just need to remember that :-
1 : It has to be the same or a lower amount of clicks or button presses to do something never more.
2 : It has to give the same or more info on screen for the selection never less.
3 : Add features, not remove them.
Sadly they failed on all of those points with the UI in odyssey.
Edit. Load times could be added to that I guess.
False. More clicks and less functionality is bad.I've been reading some of the threads here and on reddit and steam regarding Odyssey, and while much of it is very valid criticism about bugs, server stability and framerates, I'm also seeing a surprising amount of people who are angry just because so many things look different now. Nailed it commander. I think too many don't understand that User Interface is only part of the User Experience. The UX has been made terrible driven by UI changes. Workflows and data discovery are worse in Odyssey.False. More clicks and less functionality is bad.
