I would like to here opinions about this matter actually since I want to carry my ships as I explore new systems instead of using just one ship for exploration and leave all others behind in a starport.
1st. Can you actually do this? I mean can you change ship storage location? Maybe it is not possible since the game spawned you to a specific location when we started. Maybe players must store all there ships in there home system (mine is Aiabiko for e.g.)
2nd. Suppose that it is possible, there are two ways to accomplish this that come into my mind:
1st: Move your 1st ship to system B, and store it, buy a stock sidewinder, go to your initial system A, sell sidewinder, get 2nd ship, go to system B, buy sw, etc..
This has some drawbacks:
1) Time consuming
2) jump distances between systems must be less then max jump distance of stock sw, else you need FSD upgrade of stock sw, hence money
3) Destination system must have N-1 sws available to buy where N=Number of ships you want to transfer
Benefits: you keep your upgrades to your ships
2nd way: You sell all your ships apart from one. You go to your desired system and re-buy your ships and any upgrades you may have done on your sold ships.
Advantage: Much faster
Disadvantages:
1. You must make sure all your ships are actually available to buy and at the same or lower price, at your destination
2. The same applies for the upgrades/outfitting
I am open to opinions and suggestions
