multi-crew, avatar creation and ship-launched fighters.

I love all of those updates. Especially avatar creation, that will bring us one step closer to leaving our seats. And i love to have friends on board my ship or ride along on another vessel as a crew member... hopefully, ship launched fighters will include a shuttle transport or something one day, so we can send crew to the surface for ground missions, while the ship and pilot provide air support and such things... These updates are pretty powerful, as they are solid bases to build upon. The stuff adventures are made of.

Certainly I do agree; it's a useless feature.
But I still look very much forward to it. [yesnod]

Multi-crew too sounds nice.
But it sucks that we can't have a NPC-crew.

The ship launched fighters I also look much forward to.
Hopefully we will get to carry not only those small fighters, but other types of ships as well. [yesnod]

We wont have NPC crew right now, but they love to do it. Thats what FD always says, when asked about it. I bet, we will see NPCs in our ships one day.

And yes, other types of ships... i can imagine mining pods, repair units and other things like that... even small submarines, once we are allowed to touch down on waterworlds...
 
ED struggles lately to suspend the disbelief, as seen in the latest update ( I´m looking at you gimped c4 weapons, strange material combos for weapon upgrades, engineer "magic", healing lasers, and ships the size of carriers turning on a dime).


It definitely is kind of jarring when something 300m long still handles like an F-22 and relies on fixed nose weapons as its primary armament. In a way it has the result that instead of the ship feeling big, everything else feels small.

But if we made the changes necessary for big ships to handle like big ships (mainly giving them lots more small/medium hardpoints explicitly intended to be stuffed with turrets so that poor handling is less of a liability for them, and the powerplant+distributor to handle that weapon load), I imagine that people would start complaining about no-skill turret boats...
 
You could just main them manually. A bit similar to the SRV.

It is a bit strange how we do not have something like stealth ships, dedicated mining ships, torpedo bombers, dedicated missile boats etc., anything that adds gameplay variety. Big ship combat needst o come as soon as possible.

Character creator – fun for the first 1 hour, but after you have your desired avatar then what?.

Ship launched fighters – A step in the right direction. I just hope this will takes us down the path to proper NPC wings that you can give orders, something this game desperately needs that would enrich game play across all modes(Open/Groups & Solo).

Multicrew - This is the one that worry me most [where is it]. I can see in combat there is some exciting game play, BUT outside from combat what will player multi-crew offer, and how fun isit going to be sitting in someone else ship when they are trading, mining or exploring?. One other factor, there is a large percentage of players in Solo or even players in Open who like playing non-sociable and do not have in game friends this feature is complete wasted on. Now NPC crew would change all that, but that's another rant for another time. :D

I don't know about that. With NPC crews how long til the first person dies and complains their NPCs sucked at shooting/managing pips/flying?
 
Storage, for heaven's sake! More ships. More paint jobs. Ship transport or delivery. More station and building types. More dynamic representations of system states in assets. More life in stations. More logical behaviour of NPCs and less psychos. Properly working and multi stage missions, less RNG, more exploration assets like accretion disks, pulsars, binary stars gas mingling. Supernovae. Better surface POI location mechanics or modules that actually assist location of materials from orbit. Less cheating AI. More logical supply demand structure.

What we don't need are more half-baked, poorly implemented mechanics.

address the mining,more and diverse ships
mining right now is taking out a hold full of drones to return with about 10% of hold filled.
by the time you start having fun at it,you have no drones left as you had to fling them all at asteroids with nothing worth mining in them.

Are you sure you are using the limpets correctly? They last a fair bit of time if the collector controller is a rated (so long as you are not targeting a material or something for pickup before launching them).

if i did find a good roid in a pristine belt then i have a few rocks to sell

this is not a good system for mining with limited cargo space
what should happen is >

fire scanner
drop collector
fire scanner until i find a good roid
drop collectors until hold full

i would hate to think no dev played the game so this slipped past,even worse to think this was meant to be like this,meaning mining was never meant to be a way to play the game.
other games coming.devs need to pull thier finger out and want players to stay playing,which will mean less grinding and more choices of play style.

What ever they say; I'll go for "But it sucks that we can't have a NPC-crew", until I see something real. ;)
And I will be right for years to come.

I could also like it if we got to have a second account as a partner, co-pilot, passenger or something.

Yes, and some sort of ship that can carry a load; to land with goods on Outposts, for example.
And also some of the other smaller ships that already exists.
 
This thread encapsulates the problem that FD have. You create a universe and everyone wants something different from it. Aside from the creating and ability to land on 'earth-like' planets, I dont think there's much the community can agree on in terms of what we all want from the game.

Now this i agree with, But it seams that FD pick whats going into the game and don't ask or listen to anyone else, take power play do not remember anyone asking for that, engineers ?

Multi Crew; not interested in any way shape or form
Build my own avatar; this could be interesting. Depends how it is implemented.

Personally I am just looking forward to "Winter's Coming!" This is too cryptic to ignore! Again my own opinion.

Well it's true they didn't ask, but then again I'm not sure many games companies ask what players think of a mechanic before they design and implement it. Issue seems to be that it's not well liked (which is fair enough) but had it been really good I dont think people would be saying "This is great, but we never asked for it!"

I think PP could be really good, it just needs the edges taking off it and blending into the main game a bit more. Adding missions to it and allowing players to act as freedom fighters etc. (as has been mentioned) would be a good thing. It may be that it's never any better, but as with all things ED related only time will tell.

Same here. Adding that really looking forward to Avatar creation, as it being the first step for "spacelegs" (season 3?).

But things I really can't wait first and foremost in season 2 is MOAR planets to land on! Those with volcanism promised.

Multi-crew and especially avatar creation to me are just a waist of time.

I am very much interested in all three of these features.

- I love the idea of designing an in-game avatar corresponding to how I picture my pilot in the Elite universe.

- The prospect of playing with a friend on a multi crew ship where we both use our VR headsets to get the feeling of sitting next to each other on the same bridge even though he lives 50 miles away from me also appeals to me.

- And the possibility of flying a ship-launched fighter to defend my large vessel sounds awesome, too - I absolutely adore the fighters in CQC and how they handle and can't wait to get access to them in the main game.

Bottom line: the mechanics you listed are high on my wishlist - together with passenger missions that also got announced - and not like Powerplay, which isn't awful but very underdeveloped, IMHO.
