Hardware & Technical Multiscreen

It would be great if Elite: Dangerous supported multi-screen so that I could have flight controls on one screen and use another screen for the cockpit view. Is that going to be possible?

welcome to the forums friend. I would like to think that having multi screen would be interesting, I would definitely use it.

If I had the room I would have multiscreen. There was one screen I was hoping to see in production. There was one monitor I wish was released from Alienware. It was Curved Monitor it would of been cool. Or this setup Or Warpalizer video Both would of been very cool. But I don't have that much room lol.

LG are just releasing a curved 55" OLED tv screen , mega bucks (£9K) but only in korea.

Only lottery winners catered for. :(

I have two 24" monitors; I'm really hoping I can use the main one for cockpit view and the other for star maps, trading lists, instrumentation, etc.

Three monitors doing a wide cockpit view sounds brilliant, but I don't know whether FD might consider it a gameplay balance issue if some players had a wider view than others purely because of their machine? Seems a shame not to support it, but I can see "unfair advantage!" being bandied around in multiplayer action.

Multi monitors have already been added to the request list.

As for that AlienWare curved monitor, even then the resolution was poor. For the price you could of got 3 16x9 monitors, a pair of sli gfx cards and a gift for your other half!

3 screens a must

I have no modern games that don't support wide screen (triple monitor) natively and I can't imagine this game would not. The only trouble I generally get is from console ports.

Welcome to the forums Nikko. I have it on good authority that E: D will support multi monitors, don't worry ;)

Why don't you have a search around the threads to see what else has been confirmed. Some in game shots were posted yesterday :D

Support for multiple monitors
I know this issue is under consideration. My reflection on this matter, is that we don´t know what the future will bring to our desktop environment. I started play EVE 10 years ago, there was no:
- Multi monitor solutions
- “Pads” (IPad a.s.o.)
- Big monitors e.g. 27” and bigger
Hopefully will Elite:Dangerous last for over 10 years, we don´t know what the future will bring to us. What we can see in the close future is solution like:
- Oculus Rift
- Small monitors like 14-17” to “gaming” laptop PC (= Haswell processors from Intel)
- “Pads” in different sizes
- Maybe 3D
The solution must be that development team don´t make everything in today’s standard format: 1920x1080. I have today 3 monitors 27” and playing EVE is like a dream. I don´t like the 2cm “gap” between the monitors, sometime the spaceship is on 2 monitors and “cut” in 2 parts.
Hopefully I soon get a “single” monitor in “C” shape (180 degrees visual angel), I need something like 5760x1080 ish on that monitor.
Even if it is hard to make everything work on every monitor size (like the HUD a.s.o), please try. The game can be awesome.

Monitors are very afordable. So yes I hope for it to.
Curently only two.

Got two PC cross linked to both monitors. One got got PS3 also on it and the othetr DSL TV decoder. Left is even 3D. And supports PC and PS3 in 3D.

But not much room for more or bigger but IAm brainstorming ow to maxemise it.
Still thinkin.

I have 2 screens at home: a 19" in portrait mode and a 23" in landscape mode. I use extended desktop in my normal work already.
I would like to have an outside view with reduced cockpit (HUD-like) on the large screen, and the rest on the small display. It would be great if the layout of the controls (in groups) can be rearranged to whatever the pilot would like to have.

You can pick up a decent 22" 1680/1050 monitor for about £50 on ebay. I have 5 monitors all set up with a triple screen set up and two ancillary monitors which I use while gaming in ArmA...

Here's a link if the above one doesnt play in your country...

These monitors cost between £45 and £55 each.

Brian :)

Oh with the delay, thank you Brian. But I was joking. I do not want several screens. I have my 1920 * 1080 screen. This will be enough to play.

:)

An ipad or tablet would be interesting to use as a control interface. Could also easily swipe between information, like you may do in a cockpit. Interesting innovations in this area are certainly possible for an immersive experience.

Only have the one monitor at present (square) but was toying with getting another. Can you mix and match widescreen and square monitors and if so whats the best setting to use between the two? Presumably you want them both to have at least the same height as each other?

What size is your monitor? While a widescreen monitor is nice it is better to get as big as possible. There is little point in getting a 22" monitor to sit along side your 19" when you can get a nice 26" monitor for just a little more.

Better still is to get three monitors - stops the desk from feeling lopsided and falling over:)

Ah - its a 19" Square Monitor. Issue we have its in the attic and is 19" is the largest size I can have sadly as the attic roof slopes down! I was considering getting a 19" widescreen to sit next to it (desk space is not an issue) but maybe getting another one or 19" square monitor(s) to sit next to it might be better?
