My Auto-dock Is Trying To Kill Me..

That may sound dramatic, but I've noticed that, when I set auto-dock in motion I'll usually phase out for a minute or so while it gently guides me in.

On rare occasions though, I'll move away from the screen altogether and then it strikes!

I watched tonight, whilst docking at Ito Orbital in Rhea, as my ship moved toward the postbox slot. Glanced away for a minute, only to turn back and see my ship repeatedly ramming itself into the side of the station.

Now, I've seen many threads about the auto-dock being bugged at times or not quite perfect but mine genuinely seems to have murderous tendencies. Maybe I've led it on and not followed through, or made drunken promises that I don't remember. Anyone else have similar problems?

It has always done this from time to time. Through every patch since I started using them on my fat bloated merchant ships anyway. Don't ever leave it fully unattended, and / or running a shieldless build in particular.

This is what you get for using a basic docking computer.
How long have we got to put up with this cheap rubbish before the standard and advanced docking computers come out?

Speaking of which, what would the advantage's of these computers be?
Faster landing times, super fast smuggling mode, evasive manoeuvres.....

I can imagine it all now....
"Engage smuggling mode!", super cool music is played as you hit the side of the space station at a ludicrous speed!
But as long as you looked cool it's OK I guess.....

I look bloody spectacular, as I'm nosediving into the side of a station, the music makes me feel like a boss. However, I'd really like to not die.. ;)

Advanced docking computer would be welcome, though..

DCs are the product of Beelzebub's undulating bowels. Always have been. '84 Elite liked making a thoroughly horrendous scraping noise as it blithely killed you by degrees.

I can only imagine how much the scottish atc guy would rip the p**s out of you for using an even fancier docking computer.. Amidst the expletives he'd probably refuse clearance

It knows when you are looking in the wrong direction.....More seriously though, this is more likely caused by minor lag spikes.

I stopped trusting docking computers ever since it flipped my Courier onto the landing pad. I guess I forgot to tell it ships are supposed to land with landing gear, not with their roofs...

Yeah. I have similar problems. Sometimes Docking computer trying murder me on my ships with dirty drives upgrades. He boost to station and cannot handle this speed which leads to ramming station.

Auto docking suicide machine is more like it. Lots of videos of it trying to crash. One thing I found. If you deploy your landing gear and throttle back it cruises in a lot safer.
