my CPU is getting set on fire and i am using an i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz

for some reason my GPU which does most of the work seem fine running on a nice 40c to 58c even in our hot weather , the CPU however is doing 90+ when i my boots are on the ground , this is insane...i have no FPS lag what so ever and i just dnt get it i tried every graphical setting and nothing works

means either A, you have a cooling issues and check your fans or if your liquid cool your pump may have stop working here and there. Im running a 10900k at 5.3 and temps get as high as 51C.

90c is definetly way too high and as others have already said, something is wrong with your CPU cooling.

Got the same CPU as you and it is sitting at max 45-50c running with 4700 mhz boost while playing ED:Odyssey, RTX 2080 Super.
However, i got a pretty good cooling setup and a big tower.

the same Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz ? also i am using a https://nzxt.com/product/kraken-m22 on it , i have no idea what is going on

while i understand that 90 is hot , every source i google and look for and post online says anywhere between 60c to 85c is good since its a hot cpu , so i have NO idea where you guys get the 45c , i only get the 45c on idle -_-

is it a single 120 rad on that AIO? If so, I would say that is your main issue buddy, I run OC'd 9900K and 2080 Ti so similar setup BUT I have a custom water loop and I have 2x 360 rads, one for cpu and one for gpu. if I was You I would defo look at upgrading that AIO.

I had a similar problem with my 8700k. It would easily hit thermal throttle and badly too. I eventually replaced the CPU (it was thermal throttling even when I first got it.
This isn't an Elite issue, this is most certainly a hardware issue.

It could also be the thermal paste, if applied too much or not evenly or just cheapo stuff, that could lead to higher than expected temps. have You tried taking your gear appart and reapplying the paste? when I was assembling mine it took me 3 attempts to get it spot on, first time I literally savaged the process and temps where skyrocketting in bios never mind windows or games. Might be worth checking that out as well.

so basicly the game runs fine but as soon as i disembark on a planet or on a station it hits that 90c , every where is just fine between 65 to 80 , i dont get it

Even 80~ is way too high imo, yes it won't harm or even damage your cpu at such temps, but i wouldn't be happy at all if it would run at 65-80 heating my room all the time.

And yes, i do have the same CPU.

My Setup:
Intel Core i9-9900KF, 8x 3600 MHz
ASUS ROG Strix LC 360 RGB (just one 120 rad is way too less, you need atleast 240, and i honestly would recommend a 360)
ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER
ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING
32 GB DDR4-RAM
1000 GB M.2 PCIe SSD Samsung 970 Evo Plus
6000 GB SATA, Western Digital Black
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P (awesome big tower, keeps stuff very nicely at low temps)
750 Watt Corsair HX Series

45 - 52c while playing Elite Dangerous (in space and on foot).
Playing at 1440p max settings.

The main problem with Elite that we r facing atm is that its far from optimized although devs r doing good progress in my opinion and its not funboy talk, on release I was playing on single 4k monitor and was clocking about 120ish fps to 140 in the ship dependant on system etc. Now I am back to 3 monitors spanned with 5760x1080 res and it hovers around 200-220 (all Ultra setings) BUT cpu is much warmer. I did not mention surface because I am out of the bubble so I can only test on empty planet surface, no settlemnts or AI or anything so no credible data. My point been is that elite is not in a great place to be an indicator of how Your equipment is performing atm, best thing to do is use stress software and see how you get on. Still, 9900k's have realy high tdp compared to other cpu's so I would still look at upgrqdibg that aio to 360. 240 might be fine also but if Your case is not the biggest I would mod it so that the rad is outside. I have 1 inside the case and 1 outside to decrease heat inside the case as well.
Hope that helps.

if and only if you have a copper cooler you can add conductonaut liquid metal between plate and cpu. this is how i run my i9 @5ghz running temp with odyssey 56c,
Aluminium do not use it will rot the aluminium.
would like to get my 2060 cooler though. my LC will not transfer to it. :(

i have liquid cooling and i just down volted the VPU, been doing good ever since
