Hi there, CMDRS.
This will not be pleasant, I do not want to be the one to write this. However, with my own dealings with Frontier I feel I owe the community at large an explanation that took me nearly A month of googling, discord calls, Youtube videos, connecting with certain Youtubers on the matter, And Facebook groups relevant to the game and what I have found out in the process is that Frontier in my opinion, has made a bold faced lie. Let me set the stage a little, I purchased Elite: Dangerous through Xbox when it was released in the Xbox preview program almost on release, and have been avid player since. Well as you do, I grew up and moved away from Xbox and got a PC, shortly after getting into pc gaming my Xbox had finally passed on, leaving me without Elite for this past year. |
Recently had made the purchase of Elite on steam after stumbling upon a reddit article (I will reserve links for anyone who would like to PM me for my sources) stating that they had been successful as bringing their commander over from Xbox to PC. After reading this I attempted to recreate their steps, to no avail which prompted me to start reaching out to some of these individuals and questioning them on their now success, some of them have had it patched back, some of them are still under the Radar.
Now, we arrive at the point where things turn a little unfortunate: I sent an email to Frontier support with a few questions about some other issues in my account but the prime factor I brought up is this reddit article and that if possible I would like to recreate this, 'Bug'. (although I did not word it to them as a bug)
The response I received didn't even surprise me. It would appear that a bug in their game can cause cross-save, but as A Frontier's own CSR quoted to me: "This is not something we can work around or compromise on."
Quite frankly: If you see no need to compromise with your community, then why would we continue to be apart of this community.
This isn't a case of we don't want to pit the communities against one another, or a case of the tech is too difficult anymore, this is simply " I don't wanna". let that sink in when you spend your hard earned dollars on a company with such an attitude. Because I sorely regret my spending money on ships kits and thrusters after receiving that Email.
I want to thank all the CMDRS who have helped me fly with this game, and all the great experiences we have shared in the galaxy at large. To you all I give a hard fought and won o7.
