My first week in open

There are a number of go-to ways to make yourself gank-proof. Speed is one of them. A tiny, ultra-speed courier with chaff is pretty much untouchable. There are a few other ways, but depending on your ship some basic planning and awareness means you never have to worry about griefers again. And if they do attack its kinda fun to see if your little contingency plan works. :)

Besides, even if you were somehow at some point killed, whats the insurance on your iCourier and how long do you have to play to get that back? Griefing is a non-issue. :)
The iCourier is the ship to start open, seconded!
At least for me it was.
Coincidentally I just shipped my current "how to annoy anyone that wants to gank you" boat to Colonia...
No one sane is gonna bother with a Courier.

Unfortunatly Griefers are seldomly solo en route. A whole gang of those increases the chance to hit the Lucky Punch and sending you back home via the express route
True, but I noticed both in ShinDez and Deciat that instancing has definitely become more difficult (and I have a couple ganksters in my friend list ftr). I thought at first it was my connection but many are complaining about it in system chat. Hope this gets addressed soon, I'm starting to feel a bit lonely these days!

I feel the same, lots of times I don't get instanced with folks on my friendlist. That's definitely noticeable.

Good on you for giving it a go OP, I still chip in with the repairs at GD 140 when I can.

Open is largely benign as you have found, and the occasional random meeting another Cmdr adds to the solo game :)

Similarly, whenever I'm in my Cobra, or Viper Mk3, I could be sitting in SC for ages, no takers. I personally also just avoid Scouts these days (if they interdict me that is), usually a stealth build with all sorts of nasty/obnoxious special effects it's just not worth engaging.

Corvette it depends, I think the fact mine has a Prismatic probably puts most off - unless it's a team with a Cutter or Conda they might take their chances. Still easy to hi-wake regardless though.

Yeah, although it's easier when sitting at Jamesons - but entering the system there's a high chance you're on your own now.

And the wobbly NPC and player ships once you do share an instance is awful. The engine trails are literally zig zag shaped. At times I'm tempted switch to solo just for immersion's sake.

I have an emissive long range pulse turret for that, the last time someone with a stealth build attacked me went veeeeery lopsided 😂

I don't know, I always end up short in the rock/paper/scissors game that is engineering... as in, I tend to have the more unsuitable ship - I fly a hulltank, other side has packhounds; I fly a smaller ship, other side has force shells making me empty my lunch over the radar screen, I fly a slow ship, other side flies a fast one, etc. etc. At least running away is universally easy.

I know that feeling 😆

I realised recently that, with over 600M Cr in the bank and over 30ly jump range, I don't have anything to fear from ganking any more, so I might as well make someone happy.

I found that my current home base also seems to be home to a guy in an purple Anaconda. Deciat was quite busy with no gankers (although I was flying an empty Krait at the time.)

If you see me around, tip me a wink if there's BGS stuff you worry about. I may sometimes be selling data or opals but I'll either go somewhere else or give you chance to shoot me up a bit. I won't flee to Solo. And yes, I may appreciate it if you do, but I get that it's generally a bad idea for you to do it and you may decide not to, but then I might decide you're a pointless griefer and that I should just choose another route. On the other hand, if I'm not carrying goods that time, I may next time remember to swap to Open when I pass through. I'm generally in Solo outside the bubble because I take High Res screenshots.

I'm having fun, now. Just got interdicted in Shinrarta by a Ferdy in a wing of 3. Boosted away (didn't bother with chaff or heat sink), evaded, then slowed right down. Rinse/repeat x4 before docking.

Note to self - Have to configure some messages on VA :devilish:

One day, this will bite my on the ar*e.

and what ship you fly. no griefer is going to bother with a courier.

Nah, I've been actively told to stop flying my iCourier, then chain interdicted and finally sent to the rebuy by one persistent Open pest. I had no idea they were that polarising.

I guess you guys settled it. They should close up solo, pg and the noob systems tonight. Time to move on to different game issues. Well done commanders.

Yeh you should always expect a few interdictions at jameson , i had 3 interdictions in my courier but a chaff and couple of boosts is usually all it takes to shake off the aggressor. You'll get hit a few times while booming away at speed but usually not even enough to drop a single ring of shield.

Ever since I got wasted by Feisty Goat & co. about three times in a row, my life has improved greatly. I was suddenly motivated to do engineering, which I really enjoy, and PvP is a blast, though I stink at 1v1. Interdicted Harry Potter a month ago and managed to survive the encounter, my current PvP high point.

So yeah, go get ganked, it will change your life. Just have the rebuy.

Now I interdict ppl all the time just for giggles. Not really a ganker though. I pulled a guy last week in my DBS, chewed him down to 50% hull, then let him go just because. Hopefully his life will be enriched.
