My Krait mini review (about 8 hours playtime) vs Python

Hey, anything further than two years back is an 'old thread' to me, fast as life moves these days.

With the CG going, I've already wasted enough time trying to get a permit for Alioth. The '[-]' might be nothing to do with cargo capacity, and people on this thread have certainly mentioned that the Krait has some, if not much, so I'm just putting feelers out for any alternative possibilities...

It'll carry plenty of cargo. This spec (if you have 60M credits and engineers unlocked) is a hardened, low-risk trader that'll be fine to use in Open, even for a CG with gankers. It'll mash any NPC that comes after you and few gankers bother with ECM so you're likely to kill the persistant ones as long as you play defensively.

An even 200T of cargo, 35LY jump range fully laden, and at least 200LY journeys without needing a scoop is respectable for a medium-pad ship and you're only giving up 28T of total cargo for the shields, ADS and FSD booster.

More importantly you can fly around with pips at 4-2-0 for almost 5000MJ of effective shields and whilst not infallable, most gankers are not going to stick around after a few of your twelve RC torpedos hit them. If they do they'll probably reconsider when you disable their unshielded power plant with homing missiles, but any of the ships that can masslock you can't outrun you, so it's pretty safe unless you invoke the wrath of a gank wing - at which point 4v1 pretty much everyone is screwed, no matter what they're flying or how good a pilot they are.

Sounds sweet. It feels like time to take a break for the Xmas period, post CG, and do some long-standing chores, but I might buy myself a Krait on X-Day, and work on outfitting it in the new year. The Krait always seemed like the generic pirate craft in TOG, but now it feels like the Hog that scratches that mid-life... ah, road bump. Just hope I don't end up like that guy in '9-1-1'... :x
