My open letter to Fdev

Actually the problem most have is there was no competing CG to fight the Feds actions here. Also I beg to differ about the no data of organized grouping part as it happen to in Orrere to The Codes home system and I believe others as well that have been mentioned.

Then POST IT HERE!

I would love to see some proof of this. I keep hearing anecdotal examples, but I have yet to see some hard data to back it up.

I was referring to the BGS, over zealous humanoid...which the post I replied to clearly stated.

BGS =/= CG.

Same thing.

You don't have any data to back up that claim either, so why even attempt to separate the two?

You guys are on a fools errand and everyone knows it but you!

There is nothing to demonstrate that SOLO and PRIVATE players approach ANY of the gameplay in ED any differently than those who play in OPEN.

Some of the comments here are so out of touch with reality its scarry! Some actually believe that Mobius is an organized group within the game? What do they do then? Hold nightly meetings of its members in some secret location, planning their world domination of the game? How else would they be able to pull off these organized campaigns the tin foil hatters are claiming they do?

Do you realize how ridiculous all this sounds to a sane person?

Mobius is nothing but a popular but loosely organized Private Group who prefer PvE. They don't work as a group within the game.

I'm amazed by the number of certifiable paranoids we have in this thread. It is most disturbing.

Thank god Frontier ignores the lot of you!

So you're happy to play along and let FD decide the story and outcomes.
Or are you (trying) to blaze your own trail?

Yes i blaze my own trail within the parameters of the game. And yes i trust the developer to design the general direction of the game after all it is there game as the banned players/group will now understand.

The 13th Legion will comply resistance is futile.

I strongly recommend that you changethe way that Private and Solo play effect everyone.

...One thing to think about with this; the galaxy would evolve differently in the two different play modes, and would most likely need to be completely divided from each other. I would think that would cause some conflict, possibly even making things more difficult on whatever on folding story they have plans to cultivate in the coming years.

You're doing yourself no favours by insulting people when I'm not even taking sides.
I merely mentioned that the two things are not the same.

* personal post, in no way should be assumed to reflect the opinion of the group I am with

To get it out of the way: everybody knows what Moebius is. You engage in PvP there, I don't care the exact wording of the EULA, you messed up. OK, on with more important things.

When I heard yesterday the CG had been shut down by manipulating the BGS by shooting NPC tradeships and system authority, I was delighted. See, there is a way to oppose a CG without an accompanying counter CG, and makes the whole thinking around future CGs all the more exciting! A section of players might volunteer to keep favorable system state, while others do their best to undermine it.

One universe, one BGS. You can do this in open (where you can also shoot CMDRs), private groups and solo, all working the same universe. It's a beautiful thing.

You can imagine my deep disappointment, then, hearing that the state has been god-like reversed, thereby making it clear that BGS manipulation shall not be used to oppose a CG. (Outside of the PG invasion), this was fantastic emergent game play that makes the galaxy/bubble much more alive, and ties all kinds of game play together. Instead, CGs will be exclusionary zones from the BGS, and CMDR efforts towards it will be negated. I think this is a real missed chance.

The best way for Frontier to fix this, is to give private groups the ability to toggle player damage. Until then, the debate will rage on pointlessly.

The problem is FDEV's actions set a precedent for 'theme-parking' of the game world rather than the dynamic sandbox we were promised/given when it suited them.

This is how Star Wars Galaxies went from being something unique and interesting to another WoW clone following the NGE and CU updates (which took more and more options out of the players hands and into more generic questing).

Just as the infiltration of Mobius was as always, definitely not cool (much like the over-reactions to it we're seeing), likewise Frontiers reaction to what they themselves concede was a perfectly legitimate use of game mechanics is definitely neither right or in the spirit of the 'blaze your own trail' ethos their advertising has made it clear they want us to adopt.

It's a shame FD didn't implement a way for their community staff to enter the game as more than a player and do things like, on the night of this, broadcast a subspace message (using voice comms) to all commanders in the system

"This is general Targus of the Federation farragut battle cruiser procyon IV. All vessels engaged in piracy and unauthorised ship destruction are to leave the system immediately or face destruction."

Increase the spawn rate of federal ships in the system set to attack wanted vessels. Leave the lockdown in place for a day, then remove it, add in a bounty hunting CG, and a piracy CG the next day. Make a galnet article or two.

Then have a "secret contact" send inbox messages to all the commander they can find that were part of the attack on the system which includes a chunk of credits.

"Your actions were noticed commander, we were unable to find all of your group to reward you individually, but you are one of the few we could track down to display our gratitude towards."

Could do so many really cool things with a set up like that. Would take a whole lot of effort, a bunch of systems that don't currently exist, and the hiring of some staff to do these kinds of things.

But boy would it be cool.

Sounds dangerous, I hope Texas has a Mobius server!

Funny:)

I missed his question to me; see, I respect the point he's making, "go ahead and make my day, punk!" That's fine, but that's not the reaction we're seeing on this forum to the 13th Legion invasion, the reaction of smiling ruefully and cracking knuckles getting ready to open a can of whoop ass on the little punks who got uppity...what we're seeing instead on this forum is a lot of man crying, and that's just gross.

@Cowboy Bat, where I'm from is west of heaven, south of hell, schooled in the academy of hard knocks and ready to rumble:)

OP..why not just declare the game not worth playing...like many others...and leave and take the rest of the people that hate the design with you.

What you desire is not able to be created...so all you are really doing is just annoying players...and forcing those that want to be left alone..to leave the game as well.

Why does damaging what you claim you enjoy....lead you to believe that you can make a positive change in your direction.

At best, you will force the devs to create a blocked off PvE mode...either through more goup tools...or worse, for you guys, a real Open PvE mode.

You guys keep these activities up and you will cut off your noses to spite your face.

Good luck...and please, for those that really want to see either of the above changes...keep on keeping on...in more and more public and loud activities...I would love to see lots of video of your activities also...so that you can show those that have your attitude how crappy the game is...and keep them out.

"if you don't play the game the way I want, you have to leave. And i won't be playing the game the way You or FDev says one can either"
You had Empire-leaning players defend one of their systems via in-game mechanics which are perfectly legit and could bring a number of people itching for a fight from both the Empire and Federation which is one of the main aspects for a lot of players that got the game.

Someones "single player" / """"""PvE"""" group affecting others "multiplayer" game is a really, really bad game design flaw that should be corrected after the first 2-3 months since Elite:Dangerous came out of Beta
Calling people "griefers" instead of "pirates" or a "militia" that either tries to defend a system from a major power, or earn some credits by "persuading" a trader(who was stupid enough to make an anaconda into a full cargo ship and/or not getting a few players to wing up and protect him) to drop some of his cargo if he wants to keep the ship. Is simply chasing away potential(and old ones too) players that might want to get Elite, invest time and money in it, and above all else have fun in it.

It is not a game just for YOU and YOU only

It acctualy is what David Braben (praise the Vision and bask in his glory) himself says

OP, get a new keyboard with a working space bar and a new donkey, this one is done.

The OP typed his message in a text editor first and then copy & pasted here into the thread, resulting in the lack of spaces. I've done this myself. There's nothing wrong with his keyboard, or his... donkey?
