My SECOND big journey - Going Home!

It's been a VERY long time since I detailed my FIRST big journey, out to Colonia, (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/380264-First-big-journey!) so I thought, whilst setting off again, I'd update you on my adventures!

After arriving in Colonia, I set about creating some reputation with system factions, to get the better payouts. I couldn't believe the number of "pristine" mining systems just sitting around waiting to be harvested! It was here I mined my FIRST Painite! Once I had bought my new fleet for this part of space, (the ship transfers were RIDICULOUS!) I had about 26mil left in the kitty! (out of 1.1BILLION!) I had some SERIOUS work to do! I got to explorer a little as I worked and found quite a large community of systems to work with. The most wonderous thing was the COMPLETE polar differences in the mindset of Cmdrs I met here! Instead of boosting and running from ANY Cmdr that popped up on the scanners, I was able to slaute and CHAT to them, and even offer help or shared work (when the wing jobs became a "thing"). Colonia became a MUCH NICER place to be!

The rewards for all that work I was getting became a bone of contention. The Type 10 and Cheiftain were released, but unavailable in Colonia! Engineers (I have hitherto avoided!) started becoming popular and easier to understand. They were also only available back in the "bubble"! My problem was, just as I was about to clear down my contracts list, ANOTHER clutch of VERY lucrative contracts would be placed in front of me, and I'm too tight to turn that sort of money down! What started out as a "Look-See" turned into an 8mth stay!

Eventually, I just HAD to go back to the "bubble" to acquire those new ships and try some engineering. I heard it was possible to get back using a "suicide-winder", then fly to where I had left my "bubble fleet", then start work again! I was feeling a little nervous and very FOREIGN, as I took off in my old ships again! Within a few jumps I was MUGGED again! I'd forgotten how unpleasant it was to fly in "Open-Play", back in inhabited space! Cmders here are ""! I'd been living in "Open", back in Colonia space, for months without incident, and actually met some very nice people there! I'd forgotten that for over a year I'd been FORCED into playing in "Solo" for protection, so that I could actually achieve the goals and contracts I'd need to earn cash! So after a few of these "muggings", I decided to retreat back into "solo-play". That was in April!

It has taken me a good 6mths to learn how to "engineer" stuff! I now have a few of the new (Beyond) ships and have realised that most weren't worth the return journey in themselves. I have learned more about synthesis, materials, and even tried a few more job types, including my FIRST interdiction, my FIRST wake scans! AGAIN, I spent a lot of cash on upgrades and the new ships, (I keep MOST ships, in case I need them in the future!), but I am now back up to 1.3bil again!

I loaded up with more data jobs from HR7925 (Hausdorff Port) and am now transferring my ships MANUALLY to Colonia! The first is my expensive, low jump-range 'Conda, as it's the most expensive to BUY a transfer for! I'm only getting about 18ly average per jump but I feel confident doing it without any stops, as I got out of the "bubble" without ONE notification of anyone sent to stop me! It has just occurred to me that It's been 1 year and 1 WEEK since I set off on my "maiden voyage"! What a coincidence? I think I have another 6 trips needed to get all my ships out there, but the modules will be stripped out of the remnaining craft and either loaded onto a 'Conda OR just shipped out using the paid services.

I can't wait to get back to the NICE PLACE! I can't wait to rejoin friends in "Open-Play" again! Having seen the Thargoid advance on the "bubble" and all the starports STILL out of action, I don't want to be in the vacinity of ANY human space involved in the coming wars. The "bubble" will be the graveyard of humanity, unless they ccontrol their nihilistic urges. There is no unifying force to rebuild after the destruction of war.

The "Bubble" is dead, ...long live Colonia!

Well said CMDR.

My own experience of colonia-open, bubble-solo is similar to yours. Though i have also been ganked twice in far away places :-(

My first trip to Colonia or attempt at it anyway, back before it was called Colonia was in an Imperial Clipper with 196t of cargo, 16 ly jump could only plot <1kly routes back then too on average that was 63 jumps the space madness was real.

Also iirc some of our xbox pirates actually set up shop in Colonia for a while a year or so ago

I am also eager to get back to colonia.
Have a (nor rather big) well engineered fleet out there, my goings in the game revolve around colonia for like a month.

Next (and maybe last) ship for a while will be the cutter.

I still wanna unlock the guardian fighters and some more tech alongside with it (have unlocked most already).
I will engineer some prismatics (some are engineered already).
I will adjust some of the pinned blueprints and add some more for remote engineering.

I will gather some mats, like imperial shielding and core dynamic composites.

And then off we go, looking 4ward to nice colonia.

There: earnig money in the cutter to get some prismatics over there; then check some of the beautiful or intetesting sites, like crashed ships, unautor. Installations etc. also to know about the best mat-gathering methods, yeah then unlock and help with the engineers there, do more exploring and...

...enjoying colonia life.
