Whilst I do enjoy docking, and I'm quite proficient at it, it's effen painfully boring, the 90 millionth time you do it in an hour. I'd probably find it a challenge trying to shoehorn past a Type 9 in the mail slot in a Anaconda, but until I grind the ever living #### outta this Seeking Luxury, I won't have the capital to do that.
The mechanic of docking is sound, albeit boring. And I agree with OP, an on HUD, flight path vectoring tunnel would add a nice touch.
You know what else would be nice? Being able to see behind you, and outside your ship.
Another thing that would be nice? Ships that didn't turn like whales. I'm looking at you, Sidewinder, for starters. I was SOOOO put off by how slow the Sidewinder turned (even if you keep it in the blue) in the 1st training mission I almost regretted my purchase. And I know a few people who've cracked the ####s at that point and not continued with the game.
Seriously, why are all the small ships so damn cumbersome? Everything rolls so well. It's a pity they don't yaw and pitch the same.
And the last whinge. Why are all the modules effects in relation to propulsion and maneuvering so slight in effect for their exhorbitant price? Everything boils down to weight of module to get BACK to the optimum flight model, there's really no "pimping" or "increasing" your ships performance. It either flys properly underweight, or like a whale. I expected thrusters to increase the roll/pitch/yaw rates commensurate to their price. Instead, no, they just allow you to fly heavier. And the FSD. I hoped (Vainly) it would increase FSD acceleration and deceleration rates in supercruise, allowing faster in-system flight. Nope, just increased jump distance for higher payloads. Woo hoo.
So while I enjoy a lot of the implementation of E : D, there's also a tonne to be desired, and that's notwithstanding lack of content, which will be fixed with expansions, but will the core problems remain?
