my vr experience with deepoon e2 - chinese dk2 clone - vr for £201

Hello again DragoCubX, you won't believe it, but I finally CAN PLAY GAMES FROM STEAMVR!!!!!!!!
I'm so excited about it cause I thought that it was a waste of money, but i did it man.

Well, I'll explain how I installed from start to end the entire process:

1. Download the oculus software from the oficial site https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/setup/
2. Download the Deepoon aplication software from the oficial site http://en.deepoon.com/zhushou.html (I downloaded the win10 version cause is my OS)
3. Deinstall all of the oculus and deepoon software if you installed before, clean the registry and the temp folders to do a clean install and reboot
4. Don't connect the deepoon, repeat don't connect it yet, and install the oculus software 'til the part when ask to you insert the usb and HDMI then skip all the rest of configuration 'til open the store page, reboot your pc and disconnect the usb and HDMI
5. After reboot connect the usb and HDMI and install the deepoon software (don't open oculus store yet) and after installation set your deepoon in DK2 mode
6. And that's all, you have configured your deepoon at last!!!

Well, I don't know if there is another way to achieve it, but is the way how I can finally get my deepoon working in both modes, oculus store and steamvr. I hope it can help anyone with the same problem as mine

PD: Again, sorry for my english cause I speak spanish.

Well, I didn't have to clean the registry to get mine to work, but glad you were able to sort it out yourself.

As for me, I'm having a different problem than you had apparently, and I doubt it's because of the Deepoon. I just believe my SteamVR application installation has gone a bit wrong, but I'll check that with Steam Support.

Have fun in ETS2, it's great in VR (though not as great as ED)!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, in my case I still having the same issue, when I start the steamvr it appears at the bottom a message that I have no installed any hmd, but when I launch a vr game it starts without problem. In any case if i can help you somehow you can send me a private message to view it in my email.

Thanks again for answer to my messages and try to help me.
Best regards

I greet you I have the glasses, and my problem is that when I steam vr plays will the glasses Then when I steam vr on I do then only ne gray screen get in the glasses. I have windows 10, a Gtx 970 and Oculus 1.9.0 running with deepoon 1.5.0 version. I would be glad if someone could help me.

Did you read through this thread and follow the various installation instructions? The Order can do the difference sometimes. Also, make sure the Deepoon Assistant isn't running when you start Oculus Home (and after that SteamVR). The grey screen usually happens when the image output gets stuck while loading the Health advisements (or whatever you call it) screen. Hope the rest of the thread can help you figure it out, as I don't have anything to add to the things posted in here.

On another note: I was able to resolve my issue thanks to Steam Support. All I had to do is un- and reinstall SteamVR, then set the Steam.exe to be started with admin rights!

Hi everyone!

I'm here to ask for your help, because I'm actually desperate.

Today arrived my Deepoon E2, and I can't seem to get it to working.
I tried more or less everything written in the 17 pages of the thread, but nothing seems to work. Basically, I have two problems:

1. I cannot get the oculus configuration to find the HDMI cable.
2. As soon as I install the deepoon drivers, it send the image that I should see in the deepoon at fullscreen on my desktop. And that damned screen has some kind of always-on-top feature, so I can't alt+tab, I can't kill whatever the process is doing this, I can't do a single thing. Just restart the pc. I did it something like 40 times already.

Any of you has any idea what I could do? The driver that I installed are the latest, both for Oculus (1.10) and for Deepoon Assistant (1.5).

Thank you very much, if it goes on like this, I'll send it back, hoping that they will give me my money back.

Try these steps:
0- remove the Deepoon E2 usb and HDMI cable and do not put them until prompted in the steps below
1- uninstall every deepoon or oculus software
2- download oculus setup from here (it's a 1.5 GB download)
3- download Deepon E2 assistant 1.5
4- install Oculus Setup, and skip all the steps (do not connect the Deepoon) the oculus store will open, close it
5- restart your PC
6- install Deepoon E2 assistant, connect your deepoon via usb and HDMI cable
7- run Deepoon assistant, go to setup and put your height, your IPD and all the info (to know how to measure your IPD go here http://doc-ok.org/?p=898)
8- install SteamVR if needed, and enjoy all the VR games :)

Is your desktop monitor connected via HDMI too (so both are connected through HDMI)? If yes, try to plug in the monitor via DVI or DisplayPort instead, maybe your system is confusing the two HDMI outputs.

Also, do you have a multi-GPU system? If yes, make sure you're plugging both the monitor and the Deepoon into the primary GPU, as the video outputs are only activated on that one when using Crossfire/SLI.

I'll admit and apologize that this may be totally wrong as I don't have this device but rather an Oculus CV1. In all current VR, that I know of - either the Oculus or the Vive, SLI/X-Fire is NOT supported. You must disable SLI/X-Fire before launching a VR application or you'll get a doubling effect in the headset as each GPU tries to render the image. Yes, there is talk of a future where each GPU renders for each eye but that isn't here yet at all. I used to own the previous generation Titan Z card which had 2 GPUs on it, being SLI on one card. When I used anything in VR I had to disable half of the card before and re-enable after, a painful process with such an expensive card.

It is not supported, and no VR application I have will ever make use of my second GPU. However, I didn't have to disable Crossfire anywhere. VR just ignores the second GPU and that's about it. Though if you run into problems, that's the first place I'd search at.

Anyone have issues with games that use SteamVR? Ater last update of steamvr when i run it my deepoon display is turn grey all the time.

It turns grey for me too, but when I start the actual game, I'll get a new health & safety warning, and after that the game will display just fine. Note that I always start SteamVR manually before starting the game client.

You just run games with Oculus runtime support, and they work not over steamVR and directly. If you run games for HTC Vive (with Razer Hydra), then now you see grey screen in game.

I'm not sure I'm getting your point? Are you saying that if you run the game through SteamVR on a HTC Vive (with Razer Hydra), the screen stays gray while ingame? If that's it, in which way does it matter to us Deepoon users?

Or are you saying that your screen stays gray on the Deepoon even after launching a game (using the option "Launch X in SteamVR mode")? I wouldn't know the solution in this case, as (see my last post) as I said, I only get a grey screen when running only SteamVR without having launched any VR title. When launching a game, I'll get a new health & safety warning, and after that, the game displays just fine for me.

No, he means games for HTC Vive, because they worked before on Deepoon.

DragoCubX, what OS are you using?

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Insider Preview Build 14931 (slow ring). Oculus software version is 1.10.x (I didn't update it for a while, didn't see the need to).

Main hardware is in the signature.

Hi, I just bought a deepoon e2 too, but I'm not able to make it run properly, the steps I followed are:
1) I connected the deepoon
2) I ruined Oculus home installer, until the part where the assistant tries to find the Oculus HMDI, USB and the sensor, but nothing is found, so I skip and Oculus store is opened.
3) I close the store, turn off the computer and disconnect the deepoon
4) I Turned on the PC and without opening the Oculus home, I connected my deepoon and installed the Deepoon assistant 1.5 after that, I open the assistant and the open Oculus home, my deepoon is detected in setings as a DK2
5) I tried opening a demo, using the exe file in oculus/software/software, it starts i can hear sound from the demo, but the window in the computer is black and in my deepoon i cant see anithing neither, if i use mi xbox one controler and prees anithing sound comes from the demo so the demo is working,if i disconect the hdmi, oculus home detect it so the the hdmi is working

i tried using deepoon assistan 1.3 but it doesnt work neither, steam vr doesnt work neither

Could somone help me telling me the steps that you used to install the deepoon or if you see that i am making mistake in my installation?

Generally, you shouldn't have the Deepoon connected until the programs tell you to connect it. That might be what is causing you those problems.

Do you get Oculus Home to show in your Deepoon? If you do, I highly doubt the problems lies within the installation though, and rather within the demo. Try another demo, there are plenty, and see if the result is any different.

Also, after the installation, always make sure to have the Deepoon connected before & while starting up Oculus Home. If the Deepoon only shows a black screen after 30+ seconds after Oculus Home has finished starting, turn off the Deepoon using the power button on it, wait ~5 seconds, turn it on again, and you should see the health & safety screen after a few seconds.

Hi, thanks for your response, my oculus home shows the deepoon conected, but the deepon screen is always showing a black screen, and the led of the deepoon is always red, (if i use it on deepoon mode, the light is blue and i can see only a deepoon screen) , i didnt knew that the Deepoon could be turned off, once i tried pressing the button 13 seconds, the light changed to purple , but if i press de button another 13 seconds it chages to red again, so to turn it off i just have to press de button for 5 seconds?
