ANNOUNCEMENT Narrative additions and Dev Diary FAQ

I'd be surprised too if the new planetary improvements are locked behind the Odyssey DLC paywall.

After all, if you don't want Horizon players to walk out on foot all you have to do is deny access to the ship's walkway ramp and prevent people from exiting their SRV.

Very much doubt you can access the planetary base interiors without having to walk in. Unfortunately, this will probably apply to orbital stations and outposts too.

Are you sure there will be an option to leave a ship on airless planets in Odyssey? Those suits look pretty thin. Also, I didn't see any proof that space legs will be avaible for Horizon's planets.

So - if the suit is so important, I assume the cmdrs will actually BE in their suits, not just another holo? If so - can we expect that SRVs will be driven by cmdrs in flesh, same with fighters? If so - what will happen when you "die" outside your ship, for example when you were walking on the planet?

As far as I know you are actually in your SRV. Only the fighters and multi-crew uses hologram/tele-presence. And I assume when you "die" on foot it'll be similar to when you "die" in your SRV. You'll be brought back to your ship and revived/healed somehow. But i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Since they've said on multiple occasions that you'll have to keep an eye on your power and oxygen levels while on foot, I doubt you'll be a hologram walking around.

I believe so. And it seems that the new planet tech will drip down to horizons as well. And it seems that you can walk around on any planet that you can land on.

Well, that's the problem. As far as we know, "old" planets' look will improve but that doesn't mean you'll be able to walk on them. It's still an assumption. :)

Sorry, during the long period of FDev (you) dropping things that to some extend interested me about ED you lost most of my interest. And probably you know what industry says about the costs of keeping a customer compared to the costs of winning a customer, don't you?
As for me, I must say that you have to win me back.
This is a step! RoFDev ;)

True, I assume we'll be able to walk on any landable planets. Bar a few very extreme ones (high G and/or high temperatures ones).

Great news on the narrative front!
However considering the thread title and the fact no one has asked about it, I am anxiously awaiting some more information on the second part of the dev diary. It was said on mondays stream that it had been filmed and was being edited and a possibility of a date announcement on Thursdays stream, yet we were met with the same information as Monday.

How far off from the next dev diary are we. Can we expect next week, in two weeks, next month?

Cheers.

they said this month. The previous one was 18th, so it's likely this week if we are lucky, that will be 4 weeks.

I mean, thatll be awesome, but if it was to be this week, wouldnt we know by now when it is exactly?
Arf was hoping to confirm the date on the thurs stream, if he had it would have been finished and would very likely have been out on Tues. So if it's not quite ready but still this month as he suggested, it will be the week after. No biggie.

I have a question to FDEV: Will the new planetary tech mean that the existing planetary discoveries (geysers, fumaroles, brain trees etc.) will be re-rolled? And if so, what about the current Codex discovery tags?
