Need help with PP2

Hi CMDRs

I want to give PP2 a try but I have no idea who to pledge to.
I live in Li Yung Rui space currently, which I guess make sense to pledge to him, but everyone seems to like Aisling Duval and she gives the prismatic shields, so I am torn.

1. Regardless who I pledge, Can I still patriciate in all PP actives or does each power have their own subset of missions and activities you can do ?
2. Since Li is independent, does that mean that if I pledge to him, I won't get attacked by other non-neutral powers?

thanks,

  1. Join LYR.
  2. You can still participate in all PP activities, but each power have their preferred activities which gives 50% more merits (like mining for Torval or Kaine)
  3. You will get attacked by other power agents, but only in stronghold systems I think. 99% of the time they'll just leave you alone.
  4. You can get prismatic shields and all other PP modules regardless of who you pledge to. Some powers give the modules you want earlier, but you'll eventually unlock all the modules.
  5. Join LYR.

If you're an avid ship builder you could definitely do worse than Li-Yong Rui; as a Yuri Grom supporter I'm still envious of those Stronghold Carrier markets the LYR pledges get.

Otherwise, look at the bonuses and align to a faction that'll net you the most advantages. Alternatively do it for role play reasons. I went for Yuri Grom both because I like the role playing it allows, but he also offers a big bonus to bounty hunting, and small bonuses to trading and exploration; pretty much exactly the ratio my gameplay is split into.

I got all the PP modules I want, so I don't care about those and don't care about PP in general either, but which power pays out the most for combat since I just like shooting stuff? o7

Also keep in mind, benefits are not immediate and full right after joining a power. By raising your rank up - your benefits go up as well, but basically your only starting benefit is something like -20% in you power space when it comes to ship rebuy.

Lets review:

The King™ is a gigachad who rules through honest policies and clear rules
Has the funest unique module
Gave rise to Kumo Burger™, the tastiest ED food
Has the funest bonus
Ships are red, which is a proven colour to make things move faster (sometimes even three times as fast)
I assume by the most fun module you mean the Cytoscrambler?

And by the most fun bonus, you mean the 100% reduction of all bounties you earn in his space? If that's so, could you elaborate on that. Does that full reduction totally negate the bounties even being applied (that part seems obvious) AND the associated notoriety? That still tempts me.

For now, I'm sticking with LYR because I'm at rank 148 (or near that) and I still want to take advantage of the exploration bonus. But oh, being able to hammer non-anarchy factions is so tempting...

You'll earn merits doing bounty hunting in your power's territory. That is universal. You probably get more with the powers that emphasize bounty hunting (Arissa and Jerome); those two powers will also reward you with more money for bounty hunting in their space.

You can review all the perks in the power play section of your ship for each power. Well, at least until you pledge. After that, you can only see your power's perks. It's irritating that I can't check on the others (without going to a wiki).

There is very little downsides to pledging to PP in general, if any. With any power, once you reach a certain rank, you'll get 100% rebuy reduction in your Power's space (death by any reason) and 100% rebuy reduction if killed by another power's ships anywhere.

OK, but which power pays the most for doing combat and blowing stuff up?

"Red is faster" is reason enough to upvote your post.

Regarding Kumo burgers, are they really that good? I heard the taste varies from person to person.

1. Regardless who I pledge, Can I still patriciate in all PP actives or does each power have their own subset of missions and activities you can do ?
All powers allow all activity types, but you get 50% extra merits (and therefore rank up faster) doing the Power's preferred activity types.

Broadly the distinction is whether you prefer combat (Delaine, Archer, Grom, ALD, Patreus) or non-combat (everyone else) to have the bonus. Beyond that it's just details and flavour.

2. Since Li is independent, does that mean that if I pledge to him, I won't get attacked by other non-neutral powers?
All powers are hostile to all other powers. The actual chance of an attack depends on what you're doing - generally you'll be fine if you don't go actively looking for trouble. (Note: "legal" and "not looking for trouble" are not the same)

If you're happy to carry cargo / run missions and therefore risk attack by pirates, the vast majority of pre-emptive Powerplay attacks are no more threatening than that.

I got all the PP modules I want, so I don't care about those and don't care about PP in general either, but which power pays out the most for combat since I just like shooting stuff?
It depends what you like shooting and whether you want to be paid in credits or merits (which will get you a few bonus materials via the care packages).

- ALD and Archer have the highest bonus to bounty hunting payouts (+100% at max rank) and also passive bonuses on top of that. You have to be within their territory to get that bonus. Both also give merits faster for a range of combat activities including bounty hunting
- Delaine has the strongest set of merit bonuses for Odyssey activities but nothing directly credit related for combat
- no-one boosts CZ bonds or AX bonds at all
- as an odd side option, Kaine (+150%), Winters (+100%) and Duval (+100%) all boost reputation gain with minor factions, so if the bulk of your combat income comes from missions and you move around a lot, they could help you get to Allied faster and so indirectly get higher payouts.

I think it's better to pledge to whoever gives a benefit to what you do. Some give massive bonuses for bounty farming, some for exploration data, some for trading, mining, smuggling, etc. If you like mining, it would be good to go with whoever controls the space where the best mining hotspots are, then you can get all the merits you want for nothing. If you like shooting NPCs, ALD has pirate massacre missions in her space, so you can make a fortune between the mission payouts, bounties and bonuses, while getting all the merits you want.

Smurfette it is then. Thx.

Even at this embryonic stage of your Kumo career you get it.

Bravo sir!

At Maximum Kumo™ bounties are zero when you exit the scene of the crime. And from what I remember @Rebel Yell saying notoriety is nullified too.
