I was interrupted and needed to tend briefly to a family matter and a few minutes later I came back to the game and my fully decked ASP ship was destroyed! There is no pause function except to leave the game and so the game stayed active.

I did not have money to buy back the ship and dont know if I can get it back as there is no indication how to find it.

Is the ship recoverable? If I make enough money will the ship reappear?

Distraught loosing a 8,000,000 credit equipped ship without recourse. I cant find it anywhere in the game to recover.

Help! Probably will stop playing without recovery. NEED A PAUSE FUNCTION! (XBox One)

Unfortunately, you've hit the nail on the head with your third line - if you make enough money, you can re-buy the ship and all the gear you equipped. If it cost 8mil... :(

Simply Exit the game when you need to. You also needed Insurance to cover your Asp. Don't get too attached to it - it's gone forever. It is very likely everything will get wiped when the game releases anyway - so you have lost nothing. Take the free Sidewinder, or clear save and start again.

Welcome to Elite: Dangerous and it's 1st and most important rule: DONT FLY IT IF YOU CAN'T REBUY IT!

Sorry not meaning to yell it but just wanted to make sure its visible to everyone. There is no way to get your ship back, you must start back over it the free sidewinder. There is not and will not be a pause function as even in solo play this game is "online" and is receiving real time data from the Frontier servers. Only advice is to buckle down and keep flying, you'll get back to where you were.

Looks like you may be done, should have tried dashboarding, leaving ship afk = bad , flying ship with not enough buyback crs = very bad

Will my Game Preview progress carry over to the final release?

At this time we are still looking into the possibility of carrying over some of your characters progress from the Xbox One game preview to the final release.

Keep in mind however that this release is a game preview and similar to a beta, it is not always possible to continue playing on final release without a save game wipe.

All achievements and gamerscores earned are permanent and will not be removed.

I think in real life gameplay there should be a quick out if interrupted without the huge cost. Otherwise the game will lose players and real $$, not fictional credits. This is my advice to the game designers.

But, more recently than that:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=163074

As we add content like CQC to Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One we’re going to have to reset some data, but because the Game Preview is longer than our usual PC beta tests we’re aiming to keep as much progression as possible. Discovery data and Powerplay status will be reset, but we’re looking to ‘cash in’ everyone’s ships and modules so you won’t lose your financial progress, and you’ll be able to re-spec with a whole different kind of ship if you’d like.

Best of all, we plan to preserve all the Commander data, such as Rank, Credits, Progress to Elite, Xbox Hero Stats and Achievements throughout the Game Preview and even into the full game.

EDIT:

Beaten to it by remowilliams!

Save and exit...

You've learned an expensive lesson: Don't leave your ship unattended unless docked... especially if you can't afford the 5% rebuy cost :(

I almost lost my trusty Cobra tonight. My wife walked in front of the TV while I was trying to enter a station while silent running was engaged(and so had no shields)... Crashed, but somehow managed to not explode.
