If you purchased directly from FD, just log into the store and you will be able to download what you purchased.

Download Elite Dangerous which will install the launcher and then you will be able to upgrade / download the game.
Actually, I Purchased the game Elite Dangerous 5 years ago...
Been playing ever since...
Don't want to have to Repay for another Download...

You still need your frontierstore.net login details though.

Your error message specifically points to a failed process termination - that is why the FAQ suggests completely restarting the computer (i.e. complete power off ) - did that not help? Did you try starting the installation twice (i.e. seemed unresponsive so tried to run it again)?
Sounds like you might benefit from raising a support ticket (NOT A BUG REPORT) at https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/ - make sure you attach a copy of DXDiag report (the ticket page tells you about this) - they might note an issue with .net framework or visual c redistributable runtimes (both common sources of issues).
