New 2024 Livestream series!

We've already had one engineering change.
Before that, each module was individual, with people piling up hundreds of tons of materials in hopes of getting as many positive effects per module as possible.
At one point, all individuality was removed and all modules became the same.
Aside from the already-engineered modules under the old system, no new are added but the existing ones are kept.

Forget the T8 scrap metal... Powerplay 2.0.
Did you just miss spell Planet Coaster 2.0?

There was also the one where materials started providing three units for every one found.

While sympathising about the loss of individuality I much prefer engineering to feel engineered rather than a lucky dip.

Ok. Anyway ...

The upcoming engineering rebalance was last mentioned on elitedangerous site, where they say:
We know Engineering is a very important aspect of the game for our players, and we have been listening to your feedback around this system. As we mentioned in our comms yesterday, one of the things we want to address is how players engage with Engineering in order to make it more approachable and predictable.

Some of these areas we are investigating are:
  • Reducing the number of materials required for Engineering.
  • Increasing payout of engineering materials from missions.
  • Increasing backpack capacity.
Please note, the above are examples of some of the areas we are investigating, not all the areas we are investigating. Elite Dangerous is a Live Service game and we anticipate that refining Engineering may take several passes. However, we will be listening to your feedback as we go about this process.

I can imagine they might get quite a lot of "feedback" here after the F U..

It was an element of the game.
And engineering always involves a reverse process. Why can't we disassemble the module for the materials used? Even if only partially.
Or are you talking about something else? You scan an asteroid with a scanner, it's a blur, very bright, but there's nothing inside? Who's to blame for the ruined scanner?
And by the way why didn't they remove the number of items per grade ? Why is it different?

It was an element of the game.
Yes but it was the wrong element for what was happening, just as the exobiology scan minigame was wrong for the activity as a whole.

And engineering always involves a reverse process.
Usually that is the case some processes are irreversible or are not economically viable to reverse.

Why can't we disassemble the module for the materials used? Even if only partially.
We don't know it has been suggested that recycling could be introduced to do this.
It has been speculated that the materials are in part payments rather than a part of the process.

Or are you talking about something else?
No at one time if you picked up for example a Heat Dispersing Plate your inventory would increase by one this was changed so that now the inventory increases by three.

You scan an asteroid with a scanner, it's a blur, very bright, but there's nothing inside? Who's to blame for the ruined scanner?
Operator error? Who knows.

And by the way why didn't they remove the number of items per grade ? Why is it different?
Because they didn't want to. Because it is.

Personally, I don't like it. This way or that way, the effects will be removed from randomness, and the amount of materials let it be random.
Find a spot in the rings, find a glowing asteroid, and there is empty, again random ? :(
I do not like that removed in exobiology mini game, let's say, and why did not remove this mini game when mining asteroids ?

I guess that'll be 40 minutes of Planet Coaster 2 and 15 minutes of ED: engineer changes + Type-8.

Looks like you're right !

The EliteDangerous twitter account say they'll have T-8 info, including the release date:

Hi All :)

Ah!...I wonder what the Type 8 Stellar version will cost for the early access version ... 33,000 Arks maybe? ...Just guessing.
I might just head back to the bubble for this one :D

Jack :)

Strange, I was under the impression that a ship for ARXs could be bought at the nearest FC, instant delivery anywhere in the galaxy.

One of a pre-build starship can be deployed without cost at a Carrier if it has Shipyard access—although a return to civilisation may be desired for proper outfitting or engineering!

Hi and good morning :)

I haven't got the ability to purchase ships from my carrier, I've not installed / bought that module.
I only have the refuel station, repair crews and armoury installed, keeps the running costs down! :D...oh, and the universal cartographic's of course. ;)

If you buy the Python MkII for arx, this particular ship can be spawned on your FC without having the Shipyard installed. The game then allows you to buy additional ones for game credits but from a normal Station that has it in stock.
