I don't understand what you mean, why compare t7 and t8 and not t8 and t9 ?
Because I was responding to someone that thought that now the T8 is nearly here the T7 needed to be buffed which I felt more like something that would happen in a game rather than in real life.

Lakon have just gone through the expense of producing a new ship why would they immediately turn the old one into a competitor and risk all that investment.

Cargo wise the T8 isn't a competitor to the T9/Imperial Cutter it is more in line with the Anaconda.

My main question is how do I remove the backpack modification from my spacesuits ?
I don't need to return materials for this mod, just take it off my suits !

Basically the backpack expansion update completely kills this mod, and when everything is collected it becomes useless !

I gained materials for this mod, opened an engineer for this mod since I originally lacked the suit's capacity.
As I understood from the stream, change the base amount of capacity, ie now few people will use the mod to expand the backpack. Who will compensate for this change ?
 
Quick summary of engineering changes coming in Aug 7th "Type 8" update:

  • Significantly increased mat rewards from missions
  • More mat types (including raw) rewards from missions
  • Increased backpack capacity for Odyssey mats
  • Deterministic non-RNG rolls on ship engineering according to engineer access level and engineering grade
  • Less rolls required for ship engineering (at level 5 enginieering access, 1 roll for G1, 2 for G2 ... 5 for G5)
  • Mats required for Odyssey suit upgrades look about halved
  • Odyssey engineer unlock requirements significantly reduced
  • Significantly increased mat drops from "farming sources" (the stream specifically referenced crashed Anaconda, but sounds like maybe HGEs also)

This from watching the livestream and a partner preview stream where these changes are live on a test server.. Any errors are mine :)

Thanks for that. The Ferrari unlock is still going to cause complaints - 5 SDP really takes a long time and the other changes don't seem to address this. Surprised they didn't seem to change the Mat Trader ratios as they will now seem worse. Overall I was in favour of boosting mat drops from missions & POI so can't argue too much, but they might have gone a little bit overboard :D

I watched the partners video about the t8 and unfortunately didn't see two questions:
1. What is the maximum jump of the FSD at full load
and fully modified FSD.
2. What is the max speed at full load in normal space. Fully pumped engine.

Why did you expect to see them? They never released that info for the Mk2, some things are best left for us to experiment with.

Weird, I thought the live video from the partners would just show that, since everything else was already visible from the streams before.
 
Test instance is up for partners so I too am watching one Twitch Streamer, (got all 6 paintjobs today by the way!) and the T8 looks great. Updating mats so far look GREAT. Thank you Fdev!

Two things I have not seen for engineering: Thargoid and Guardian mat updates (Core chips anyone), and cross trading costs
