New API, performance improvement

Good afternoon!

Since recent updates, the developers have introduced AMD FX and FSR. I thought about it and decided to suggest starting work on directx12 and the Vulcan API as well. While performance work is ongoing, it would be nice to introduce these APIs.

This is a rather short sentence, but I think there is nothing to explain. Support for these APIs will in principle help with performance, and since the developers have improved the graphics in the elite and will continue to improve it, like the planets, the environment, etc. API data support as for me is necessary

Except porting the game to these APIs would likely require a large amount of redesigning and rewriting the renderer, and that time could be better spent optimising the existing Direct3D 11 render path.

Plus they use their own cobra engine.. I bet there would be massive amounts of code changes.

I like the idea of dx12, selfishly to use dlss.

But it won't happen I suspect.

In the main game is smooth as butter, there are only a few places it runs badly.

Generally, you see a performance regression when porting a game into a new API. In every case I know of, which isn't every case on the planet to be sure, to properly see performance uplift from an API change (When applicable) the game and its engine (Especially the renderer) must have been built from the ground up utilizing said API.

It's not impossible to do, but it's closer to a massive engine overhaul than just a quick fix. To be honest, the kind of thing expected in a massive expansion like Odyssey... So your request isn't unreasonable. Or it wasn't at least.

Jurassic Park Evolution 2 use also the Cobra Engine & supports DX 12 and nVidea DLSS.
The code changes for Odyssey went , even without adding DX12, so either Frontier didn't care to upgrade Elites version of the Cobra Engine or the old code can't be changed.

Which means JWE2 doesnt use the old Cobra Engine (which was DX11) used in EDH and maybe in EDO too...

And Jurassic part evolution doesn't use procedural generation which makes it difficult implementing DLSS, it may work in settlements and stations but may not work on proceduraly generated bodies so I am not sure you can have part of a game using DLSS and another part not.

here rather the problem is that they made an odyssey which, in theory, should use the new features of the engine, etc. however, as soon as some parts started connecting with edh, which has old code and edo which already has new code, we see problems.
I'm sure they will fix the performance and improve the graphical aspects, but you need to understand that jwe2 is a game that is significantly different from the elite. But it shows that fronitres are able to make flora, water, etc.
