New disciplinary action for my Kids, mining rocks in the SRV

So much good in this post. YES! I have no interest in new ships because I can't engineer the ones I have because I won't drive that accursed buggy and shoot at rocks. NO.

I remember how much fun and anticipation I had before engineers, as I'd buy each new tier of ship till I got my anaconda. Once engineers came out, it was over. I think I managed to engineer one FSD on maybe my python and maybe a few weapons on some ship before I gave up. I have the cash in the bank to buy the new ships that have been released since I left but I have zero interest in doing so because it's just more tedious work to engineer them.
And no new ships means no new ship skins, no new ship voices or bobble heads or kits. Basically no money for FD. But hey, that grind.

I have been invited by two engineers and went to both only to find out I didn't have anything they wanted- both were about 42 jumps in my T7- not fun getting nothing after all that. And the searches yield nothing cos it's been changed or something- looking for Meta-Alloy now I guess(how much I have no idea).

Get that thing off the ground for moaaar speed!

And one more for the sort of thing that's been happening on the First Great Planetary Expedition ..

I spend more time in the air than on the ground. The geysers give the best ride of course, but that landing is a bit rough. I've been using geysers to get to my ship recently, just because most of the G4 mats I'm finding are on crazy bluffs or rocky formations, and getting back to flat ground requires more lift than the SRV has.

Send me a friend request in the game. I'll show you how to find the stuff you need. Some of it is a pain but the meta alloys aren't bad at all. Tea bagging is the answer there, find someone who's in Maia and see if they can bring you some meta alloys, trade something for it and they'll drop them for you right at your doorstep.

See my INARA tag for my in game name "DMAC".

Ok I will next login, going to bed now. Same name right "Schmack"?

I had two quick thoughts driving the SRV 'again' (Deadpool miserable face) last night.

#1 farming mats will be a lot more visually pleasing someday especially on planets with atmospheres, so that part will likely take care of itself. More geological sites, plant forms perhaps even some structures to visit, all of that would make driving the SRV something you want to do, instead of something you have to do.

#2 The mechanics of blasting rocks and scooping them definitely deserve some sort of makeover to make the activity seem less tedious, make it more fun.

I know about finding geological sites but there are only a few needle crystals at any given site. Those have G4 mats. Selenium is still dropping as G2 mat from crystalline fragments or shards or whatever they are called, but they are G4 mats.

Someone said there's a planet that has mostly G4 mats, so heavy needle crystal formations. Seems odd but I guess anything is possible. I just wanted to know where it was. I swear I'll replant seeds before I leave.

Biological sites are the motherlodes.

Crystalline clusters are all G4:

Are these thargoid related sites? What other biological material would exist (biowaste not withstanding, don't want those crystals).

I'm not sure tbh.
I assumed it was some other life form.
This was 100% technetium:

I filled my capacity from nearly empty and left most of it behind.

I think this are Crystalline Shards, and they have nothing to do with Thargoids, they are a life form.
To answer various questions: They can be found in the Sanguineous Rim region in various systems. HIP 36601 is one of the best systems since there are 4 moons with different materials. The Wiki has a page about it.

The drawback is, that they are far away (~ 1600 lys). They are hard to reach with standard jump range.
Hope this helps ;)
