New module: Shutdown field neutralizer

OP will be edited with additional info as it comes in. :)

1) Its a utility module, and can be used along with the Xeno scanner.
2) It needs to be charged in advance, and has a 10s cooldown. It appears to work like ECM does but versus the alien shutdown ability.
3) Charging takes up to a second.
4) After charging you keep it charged & ready for up to five seconds, after which it automatically starts re-charging.
5) It doesnt appear possible to hotkey the module.
6) Available at HIP17692, Blackmount Habitation in the Pleiades.

How it works:

1) The Thargoid needs to be in the area of effect, the module sends a pulse disabling the thargoid's ability.
2) You need to be holding the trigger when the Thargoid strikes.
3) If you are still charging, it doesnt work.
4) If you trigger too soon, the module auto-fires after five seconds and enters re-charge mode. If the Thargoid strikes you're fried.

Can it be hotkeyed like ECM ?

I cant see a new hotkey option in the menu, and the ECM hotkey doesn't trigger the SFN. So far (AFAIK) they only use it when they hyperdict you, so you can set to that weapongroup first, counter the blast, then switch to combat firegroups.

First thing to do, load one of these up and attack a thargoid while it's doing whatever it's doing to the barnacles

So I need a dedicated weapon group for it if all my current weapon groups use both keys already. Le sigh.

I don't seem to be able to keep it on for 5 seconds, drains my distributor straight away. Guess my explorer with it's 2D distributor (for low weight) isn't ideal for this.

Had a couple of hyperdictions, but haven't managed to dodge the EMP.

Edit: Note to self, buying 3 Field Neutralisers and putting them all on the same fire key was a bad idea :)

I'd read the OP

the op doesnt anser that question.

from all i can read in the opening post, i am confused too.

why does it have a 3km range? what for?
is it an AoE buff that i apply to my ship and all allied ones around me, or is it a debuff that i need to hit the alien ship with?

it says it has a 10s cooldown, but not how long it lasts.

I'm guessing you need to hold the charge, and when it is held, it is effective against the shutdown field.

I have been trying to get footage on using it but the Thargoids I've been fighting for the past hour or so refuses to use the it =_=...

Might have to turn to barnacle sites at this point.

Bring some meta alloys, around 10 units of them. If you jettison them in a Threat 5 NH USS, a second thargoid should pop up after some time, using its EMP right after entering normal space.

If you start it, it charges up to 3000m range, then you can hold it "charged"... till your sys cap. is running out... it needs a lot of energy, when charged...

It would be nice if we could get a hold of it in the Pleiades.

I'm currently at Noctrach-Ihazevich Research Facility , Pleiades Sector AB-W b2-4, which is definitely a military planetary base, and it's not here - only the Xeno scanner.
