That was a bit... odd.
After installing the new gfx driver ED
looked normal but, as I said, the game was totally unstable.
I was looking at the NVidia Control Panel, to see if there was an easy way to roll back the driver, and the "Graphics" tab offers recommended settings for a bunch of games and the settings for ED were all very low quality.
Didn't adjust anything but, upon starting ED last night, it started in a window and the gfx settings were all very low quality - as per the settings in the NVidia Control Panel.
Put all ED's settings back to how I wanted them and played the game for several hours with no problems.
Quit out of the game and, out of curiosity, I checked the NVidia Control Panel again and
now the recommended settings for ED are back to being what they should be.
I'm
guessing the instability was because the low-quality NVidia settings were attempting to inflict themselves on ED but ED wasn't allowing it.
Once ED started up using the NVidia settings, and then I changed them back again, I guess everything synch'ed back up again.
