New Paintjobs

When I was a small boy I really really resented the maker's name badge on my dad's car. I mean, it was my dad's car, why should someone else get their name on it?

Perhaps Frontier should run a custom paintjob service where, for a very large number of ARX, you can have your commander's name displayed with the same spectacular vulgarity that these achieve for the shipbuilder.

I looked at these and thought "SuperDry"

FD Art department, Thursday evening:

"What does our typical ED customer look like?"

"45yo male, C1/C2, 2 kids in high school, wears a lot of SuperDry at the weekend."

"Hold my bubble tea for me..."

Kidding really, I don't actually mind these paint jobs. Perhaps because I am smack in the middle of the target demographic.

I think a lot of you need to go deeper into the world of competition car liveries.

This style wouldn't look out of place on a factory team at all.

Showing my own biases here, but I also think they look a bit like the original Mason Cycles livery, going on the desaturated 'classy' colours, the offset graphic text. See the Definition and Bokeh bikes.

They don't appeal to me but I was intrigued to see rust as one of the colours, hopefully available as a shaded scheme for the Clipper/Cutter they would look interesting rusty.

Can I have a Lakon paintjob for my Cobra IV?
(I know, DeLacy and all that but might be Fun to fly) and we who own a cobra IV deserves a shipkit as well.
(warning: this post contains sarcasm)
cheers

I would invest in a paint job that allowed personal alterations, Similar to the ship kits, but with a paint scheme. Example, Starting with a design, such as Digital Pattern, raceing stripes, or the like. Then you pick the base, highlights and detail color from a color pallet. Nothing like a color wheel but maybe a collection like tactical, or vibrant as they have done in the past collections but you can decide how to mix and match the colors and apply them to the desired pattern.

I like the next level of detail they’re able to do with the upgraded paint engine (hey a feature we didn’t celebrate getting). I don’t use those ships sadly.

Also it is just me but did they add detail to some of the cockpits with the patch.. the adder and clipper specially.. I swear there’s a few more random rectangles and blobs since I was last in them... probably just me though.

they're just showing off the fact that paintjobs are not required to be symmetrical any more :)
There were quite a few on the CM3 that weren't symmetrical, like some of the flags. Maybe that's the exception somehow. Paintjobs are undoubtedly getting better though.

Why would anyone fly T6? Does anyone fly T6 nowadays?
Got one as my poor man's AspX, and never felt it needed replacing. Never was able to love the Asp. Handles well, and just wait till you feel the punch of two small beam lasers! :) Nice to have more paint options.

You know one of the things that bugs me about arx is that i never buy stuff in game. The paint jobs i have bought i bought while not playing the game when i had my card out buying something else.

When im in the game i like to play the game, when i shop i like to shop.

Back in the days of 2.0 when Robigo was still a "thing" these would have been awesome on my smuggling asp x which I flew through the week to pay for the weekends rebuys :ROFLMAO:

However.... For an entirely unrelated reason, I think these paintjobs are an important milestone for Frontier and Elite. Do y'all remember the debacle of the razor paint jobs? Essentially those paint jobs were so glitchy and wobbly lined that at release looked like the person who was cutting the masking lines had already used the razor from the title on their wrists and was wobbling about on their last breaths masking off the black and metallic coloured sections of our razor painted ships. Now, however, the fact Frontier can render Typefaces on their paintjobs, that don't look like they have been based on a picture of something that an inmate in a mental asylum scratched onto their cell walls, means the paint job technology section of the engine has improved no end.
